2014 Corvette Stingray Exhaust Valve Explanation: Video

The 2014 Corvette Stingray offers a great deal of sanity when you need it, and just the opposite once you select sport or track mode. As the car hones in on what’s important to the driver, the exhaust electronically clears it’s throat. But how exactly does it all work?

Patrick Herrmann, the Corvette technical communications manager in Europe, enlightens viewers in the video below, as to how the dual-mode exhaust puts a grin on your face.

He spends some time with a special Harley-Davidson motorcycle, likening the two weekend toys. But we all know what we’d rather have in our garage, right?

A metro Detroit native, Alex Sizeland is GM Authority's staff writer with a focus on covering GM culture and performance cars.

  1. I just love it when the europeans fall in love with american cars, can’t beat the corvette anywhere, still haven’t seen one, hopefully soon.

  2. I’m so glad GM finally gave the Vette some bark to go with its bite! For too long GM v8 performance cars sounded almost apologetic in the exhaust department – too quite; no attempt at enhancing the aural delight of a big bore American V8 at full song.

  3. I wish to warn that the Corvette dashboard speedometer is in KPH , not MPH. So when the display shows 130, it is really only 80 MPH, because he is driving in Europe.
