They look like a Tahoe and a Suburban; I dont get all the negativity, get a grip people. Best looking of any of the Tahoes or Suburbans in recent times.
Looks like a 2013 Ford Flex to me. Of course just look at the pretty blue
LED lights. Loooook into the light….Do you see the light….It’s worth $12K more…
The interior is very nice, and the truck itself is very nice – except the front. Suburbans should resemble a more truck-ish look. Not the crossover. The grille is ugly, the front bumper lacks detail, and the lights arent the best looking.
I love the grille, in fact it is probably the best part of the tuck. The headlights are a bit awkward in pictures but fit that “Chevy Utility Design.”
But we’ll have to see for ourselves when it is on dealer lots!
They really dropped the ball on this one. The interior and even the design of the side with the strong character line are very successful, but the front end is terrible. Simply terrible.
Terrible really, why. Why are they terrible. Again these are by far the best looking Tahoe and Suburban in years.
Maybe if you like bland, boring, and uninspiring. I just looks like they didnt try. They took an extremely conservative route and decided to make a front end that looked as generic as possible. Its so bland that it’s ugly.
– And i mean that for the front only! The interior and rest of the truck look great. I think overall the truck looks a little too “pretty” to be a suburban, and not like a truck, but it does look good.
People will complain about anything! This is a great example of a suv I will take a better look at it in person!
Now this is better! The pictures that GM released made the SUV’ line up look kind of laggy’ if you say, but the “Real” photo shot is much better in every way. GM is certainly taking their line up to a whole new level.
I agree in saying its too generic. The lower fascia has nothing to it, making it seem proportionally too long, and even though the headlights are a step in the right direction, they don’t have a unified sense to them. The rest of the design has a very linear quality to it, as opposed to the front which has too much of a rounded appearance. Yes I recognize the fact of aerodynamics, but it is possible to achieve a stronger design and still maintain quality aerodynamics. That is why I think it’s terrible, it doesn’t look completely thought through b
Ok, cool… Some of us like it some of us dont :-). I think for some it will grow on them… I wonder what type of feedback they had in focus groups ect.
Like a tooth ache?!
No, because that picture is dinky. This is 2013, not 1999. That picture would have filled the screen in 1999, at 800×600.
You can go to Chevys offical website they have “better” (as you say) pictures for you to see if you complain about what the press takes & release.
I think it looks very ‘truck-ish” with just a small hint of the Traverse (tapered shape of the grill). Considering it’s market base, I would think the looks will appeal to their potential buyers.
“Maria Rohrer, director of marketing for GM trucks, said Tahoe buyers typically come from a dual-income household, while Suburban buyers are more likely to come from a single-income household with teenage kids and a need to haul equipment, boats or trailers.” – http://www.tennessean.com/article/C4/20130912/BUSINESS0101/309120118/GM-SUVs-Tahoe-Suburban-Yukon-Chevrolet-GMC-General-Motors
That would imply that a majority of the people who purchase a Tahoe or Suburban essentially want a Traverse that can haul like a truck.
Given that information, it seems to me that GM has hit the nail on the head with this. But, we’ll see how the sales shake out, I guess.
Excellent point, well taken. I hadn’t thought about the “family” resemblence point with the Traverse. Everyone I know who owns the Traverse like it and think it’s very well done and in fact handsome. There are not my type of vehicle, as I own an ATS, but come on. They’re really handsome vehicles and especially well done inside and out. The Escalade will be super, count on it. All the better when the GM 8 speed automatic comes on line next year in a variety of GM models.
The 8 speed will up the game for the 3.6 version of the ATS. The current 6 speed has strange gear ratio selections for 1st and 2nd gears. Huge contrast with the 6 speed transaxle programming in my friends XTS. I prefer the XTS programming. The ATS literally screams through 1st and 2nd and then calms down in 3rd. I use my paddle shifter a lot and I’ve noticed this same comment in every national magazine drive review of the ATS 3.6. It’ll change I’m certain.
Here is your typical buyer and driver in the SUV market.
They are higher income.
They are 50% male and 50% female.
They tow and they haul larger loads and number of people.
At one time they only had a choice of these two vehicles and today they can chose these or they can buy a Traverse or Equinox to fit their needs.
At one time if you wanted 4 doors and a SUV you only could choose a Suburban and there was no Tahoe. They came out with the Tahoe as not everyone wanted a SUV that large. As time passed people wanted a smaller but useable SUV that got better MPG and they Traverse was born.
The reality is GM has had a large segment of this market but today they are breaking it down into smaller and more diverse segments to retain buyers. If GM did not split things up people would go else where for the smaller more fuel efficient models.
I just spoke to a Travers owner the other day and he loves his. He traded a Suburban for it and said his MPG was 6 MPG to the better today. He had a bunch of kids and did work with their church youth group so they needed people room and he just wanted more MPG. He said the savings in fuel per week for what he drives is noticeable.
When looking at this market it has changed over the years on what it offers as the buyers in this segment have changed. They are no longer just the male farmer or construction guy with the Suburban but families and on down to smaller families or even companies looking for a smaller but useful SUV for their company that is cheaper to buy and operate.
So while some feel the nose on the Chevy is a little feminine I do not disagree as that is half of those who are driving it. Sorry guys but the girls like truck and SUV’s too and you are going to have to learn to share them.
The only thing that will hurt sales here is the economy on the purchase price, If fuel cost spike because of all the crap in the middle east and the expanded options buyers have in this segment with the smaller and more efficient and cheaper models. I expect they will sell as well as the last model and if there is any drop in sales it will have nothing to do with styling as it has an appeal to the wide segment it is targeted at.
Lets face it if the Chevy is not butch enough then just buy the GMC. This just may be why it is different.
I like em.
Tahoe looks best of the pair. I’m still not too keen on that piece of body color plastic at the side of the headlamp module though.
I like Tahoes and I think this current-gen Tahoes are great and have aged very well. With the Silverado having a more aggressive front end I was wishing the new Tahoes/Suburbans would have that similar look.. To me the new grills kind of have passive look compared to the trucks from some angles.. The side profile is great and the interior aswell.. Just not sold on the grill, it might sell well for a crossover but that’s my opinion, that and I’ll have to get use to it.
Although these real-life photos make the 2015 Tahoe/Suburban look ever-so-slightly better, I’m still on the fence in regards to the styling. I simply don’t find it attractive. When the new Silverado was revealed, I was like most people: critical. I didn’t find it to be a revolutionary design; it simply looked dated and too close to traditional Chevy instead of offering something fresh and dynamic. But after seeing them up close and in person, my perception of it changed greatly. I’ve come to at least appreciate the traditional aspects of it. But in the case of the new Tahoe/Suburban, I see Chevy took the same approach, but it didn’t come out right in my opinion. The awkward headlights design is a huge letdown.
The new Yukon is definitely the better designed of the new full-sized GM SUV twins. Now the interior of these new SUVs are definitely a step in the right direction.
they are trucks and they are chevys and they look like new chevys, i like them, a little bland but they are what they are, nice interior, going to be a great truck, if you want ugly, look at the big infinity i think its the Q45, i can’t believe someone would let that abortion on the street, whenever i see one i just cringe and look at the driver ????
actually it’s a Q56
No one here can make a full assessment till you see it in person. So go easy on what you say now as you can change your mind one way or the other in person.
