Seven years after the launch of the GMT900-based model, we have a new 2015 GMC Yukon. Not just a new Yukon, but a new 2015 Yukon XL, and 2015 Yukon Denali flagship. The SUV is all changed the ground up, utilizing the new K2XX body-on-frame platform introduced by the 2014 GMC Sierra. However, the looks of the Sierra don’t find their way into the new Yukon family, as their contemporary designs are unique and share no body panels.
Like the 2015 Tahoe and 2015 Suburban, the all-new 2015 GMC Yukon and Yukon XL are more refined than ever before, and offer features like power fold-flat rear seats, available magnetic ride control, greatly increased safety equipment, the latest infotainment technology with GMC IntelliLink, and expected increases in fuel economy to go with the newfound power from the 5.3L EcoTec3 V8 L83.
Meanwhile, the Yukon and Yukon XL Denali models feature more exclusive content. A 420 horsepower, 460 pound-foot 6.2L EcoTec3 V8 L86 is made available, as are standard 20-inch wheels, and a more distinguished exterior complete with a signature honeycomb grille. Look for the 2015 GMC Yukon family to make it into dealers by the first quarter of 2014.
Finally !!!!! It dosent look like an oversized Envoy anymore!!!!!!!
The Yukon never looked like an Envoy! You say it like the Envoy was such a terrible truck. The only bad thing on Envoy’s were the 4.2i and the 4 speed transmission. The 4.2i should have had VVT and AFM. GM should have had either a 6 speed auto with driver shift control or a 6 speed manual! I would have so bought a Denali 5.3 Manual. . .
Maybe GMC can put a manual in the Terrain! I was also thinking how GMC should bring a utility/sport wagon into their lineup (think Saab 9-3X, Subaru Outback or Audi Allroad). When the new Chevrolet Equinox comes out, I want a Saab 9-4X type vehicle again! Chevrolet should get a Cruze hatch/wagon and a Malibu coupe. Cadillac should get a CTS wagon and ATS convertible.
Off topic here, but:
GM should merge Buick and GMC together to form an ultra lineup full of luxury so they can bring Pontiac back! Think about it for a second before you go off on me! GMC and Buick are both luxury brands, so why have two? GM does not have a full-scale performance brand, so bring back Pontiac!
Why can’t they come out with a diesel powertrain? Seriously! As far as I know, the ONLY 7 passenger diesel SUVs out there are the Mercedes GL550 and the Audi Q7. I have a 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee with a 3.0L Mercedes diesel in it. However, I now need a larger vehicle, so I’m now looking at the Tahoe/Suburban // Yukon/Yukon XL. If GM was smart, they’d reintroduce the diesel into their SUVs. I bet that more people would buy them – I’d very likely be one of them.
This sounds like a comment from a man who has never had a honor of owning a true American badass truck such as a suburban.
