A Chevrolet Chevelle SS 454 is a good place to start if you’re looking to build a proper dragster. There’s no doubt the big block V8 is capable of putting down some impressive power figures, especially with a tune.
However this Chevelle is much different than the Chevelle’s you might normally see at the drag strip. That’s because this car has a Duramax Diesel hiding under its hood. Thanks to GM tuner RPM Motorsport, the Duramax V8 is good for 850 horsepower and an absolutely colossal 1,400 lb-ft of torque. These impressive figures equate to a quarter mile time of 9 seconds at 140 mph.

Holy smokes(pun intended) I’m impressed.
That’s a 1970 chevelle. The 71 has round tail lights.
This is some great news. I really do believe that diesel engines are much better than normal engines and with videos like this, my point of view is proven. 🙂
