The 500 horsepower, twin-turbo V8 Cadillac Elmiraj concept revealed itself yesterday evening at Pebble Beach, and like the Ciel before it, seems to have people floored on its looks. Some of you may also have noticed that there’s a new, wreath-less emblem front and center on the grille of the Elmiraj. Our first impressions are that the logo appears futuristic, and more aggressive than what we’ve come to known from the current Cadillac crest. However, that doesn’t necessarily mean it’s better. So we ask, is the new Cadillac emblem hot? Or is it not?

When I first read that the Wreath was going away, I was extremely distraught. Having seen it, it looks GREAT. Guess the new Escalade will be sans Wreath??
I LOVE IT! 😀
Looks nice especially with the matching grill.
How about a close up?
I wish it had the old school V under it..
agreed… it looks really good by itself also.
I cant say I like it, from far it looks like there is a Chevrolet Emblem in it (red area). It looks strange, hopefully it grows on me… Love the Car though…
I personally dont like it. Some how just the crest by itself looks less “luxury,” and thats not what they want.
The Crest looks dated but this is a generation thing. For people under 40, formal and lux have drastically.
A another good example of how things have changed is how like there are no longer table cloths in urban fine dining resturants.
Impressions surrounding luxury have radically changed and Caddy is reacting.
It might look good as a watermark. Similar to Buick China.
It’s very haute. See what I did there!
I like it, shows a new direction for the brand!
People complain all the time Cadillac needs to change, they need to go in different direction and when they do Cadillac gets crapped on by it’s so called followers!
Sad if you ask me!
We should be embracing these changes!
Guess all those Cadillac tattoos I’ve seen will have to be modified.
Reminscent of the 70’s
I need to hear from the powers-that-be why they thought they needed to remove the wreath in order to portray any image at all. The truth is that without the wreath the rather colourful logo now looks…well..cartoonish to me. I don’t know what to make of it. But I truly fear that GM is going to ruin a good thing by making these superficial changes. I’m going to get deboosted (as usual) for the following statement, but so be it. Dan Lackerson and the present marketing team at GM do not understand people. And if left alone they will ruin Cadillac. The recent announcement that the Uber Cadillac was cancelled is a typical example. A true halo vehicle for Cadillac does not need to make a single penny in profit. It should be a display of all that Cadillac has ever done, is doing, and can do. Halo cars are about rolling billboards. NASCAR for the streets, if you prefer. Look at Bugatti Veyron. VAG loses money on every one built, but the advertisement and the lessons learnt in that project were priceless. Cadillac needs the same thing to clench the deal. Making changes to the logo……weak. Just like all the recent marketing stunts by GM. Oh…and just to add more deboosting…same deal with those garbage trucks they’re trying to pass off as “all new” and “innovative”. A word to GM management: You can only fool some of the people some of the time.
Hate it, boring and classless. At first glance it looks like a multi-colored Chevy Bowtie. I don’t think that is the image that Cadillac is shooting for. Cadillac is the Wreath and Crest.
When i think wreaths I think Ceaser, when I think Ceaser i think chariot. And is a mans car not his chariot? It even runs on horsepower :)love the car but I think the wreath should always be an option. And who says a wreath has to be a round shape or even look like leaves?
It looks like they made it for a Transformers movie (aka to be marketed to children as toys). This may appeal to a 7 year old, but I can’t see how it’ll attract young professionals away from Audi or BMW.
If you remove the wreath to make space for a larger crest that would have been ok, but now they stretched the crest and it just looks cheaper/chinsy which is not what Cadillac should be going for.
Does a emblem sell a car, if bmw onwers are going to leave or stay based on a emblem them you are not focusing on what is important! The car in itself is going to bring over the people of competitive brands, not some sticker or emblem that’s on the hood!
Do you think sells of rolls would drop if they changed the emblem? Nope rich people would line up like they have done for the last 100 years or so!
Lastly you act as if Cadillac has never changed the emblem looks, this is something they have done many times before!
The glory days of Cadillac were the 60s 70s and the emblem was changed before that point and it didn’t turn off buyers!
I say some people bitch to have something to do!
Hey Troll, this thread is about the logo only not the car so that is why all the responses are about it. Also your logic is flawed in using BMW and Rolls Royce as examples. Those two brands with the addition of Mercedes and Audi have changed their logos very little because they are very focused on who they are and the image they want to portray. Everybody knows it at first sight. By the way, everybody is entitled to their own opinion. I have no idea why you feel you need to debase other people’s posts. I have noticed for all the wrong reasons you replying to posts from many threads. Voice your opinion in your own post, not replying to someone else’s.

Maybe those Marques you mentioned have made revisions to their logo.
So by your thinking Mercedes has not been focused over the years.
Yup, a variation of a three pointed star for the last 104 years. Pretty consistent.
Did you even go to the website on the history of Mercedes logo?
2 out of 6 variations of the logo over the years had no star at all.
A man with a opinion yes, a troll not in the least! I’ll make sure I tell your mom to send you a sticker for effort!
I write about the emblem and you complain that I’m not on topic! Maybe we should take back that sticker!
The opinion you talk about having is very interesting, so what your saying is nobody can have any criticism of your posts cuz they are your opinions but for some reason I’m not allowed to have a opinion!
If I’m not supposed to reply then why do they put that neat little button there, and another poster told me I should be using it!
Now on to your reply about the emblem, comparing rolls and Mercedes bmw is not only right it’s spot on! My point which you glossed over is that the car inside and out is what sells! That should be the selling point not the emblem! Nobody looks at a car and says I really like and I’m going to buy it then looks at the emblem and says well that’s a dealbreaker! If they do then they never were interested in the car in the first place!
The emblem doesn’t make the car!
That new emblem will not take away one sell if this car gets built! Being able to afford it will!
Now in the future if you want to call me names then I can play that game to! The choice is your, balls in your court! S/B!
Meh
Note this was not my comment. I did not post this as I was mowing the grass at this time.
Besides when did I ever post a one word response here LOL!
Just note this is a fraud.
Just to set this straight I fully approve of the new emblem and hate the old wreath.
True. The “s” is different, capital letter vs. lower case letter.
I noticed this. I hope the admin here will take note and stop the fraudulent Troll.
It is a same someone can’t give their own opinion and elaborate why they think that way vs. doing BS like this.
This message was approved by me. LOL!
Hmmm I many have to post this if the Admin does not put an end to the troll.
There is a chinese automaker called “Geely Emgrand” has a similar emblem

Am i the only one that’s now looking at the front end of the new cts and this and trying to figure out what styling cues are going to possibly transfer to the front-end of the next ctsv? I’m already envisioning the grill w/ emblem transferring as-is, and from this angle the look of the front fenders with the headlights, and how the front fenders appear to flare out a bit (as they do in the current v) transferring to the next V. Even that crease at the front of the hood above the grill…that also looks like a design cue that could evoke “power” in the next V as the current domed hood does in the current V.
What’s the big deal? Over the years the Cadillac emblem has changed many times. I believe the new stretched crest fits into the design of the grill much better than the wreath & crest.
It’s gonna take some getting used to as at this point I’d bet it’s locked in.
I ,like another commenter was not sure about the change to the Cadillac crest , however after seeing it I was pleased! The crest is very cadillac and vintage 1950s style. I can’t see why people will object!! t.y.
Most vehicle logos are simple. I have a Buick Regal which has the simpler “Tri-Shield”. Chevrolet simplied the Bow-Tie many years ago. Oldsmobile also simplified the “Rocket”. I was told over 40 years ago by an engineer that a simpler logo is easier to recognize and cheaper to print on paper. He was right!

It looks like the one from 1957, sans the “V.” I like it. I’d like to see more “merlettes” in it, but it’s fine. When are they going to change the Cadillac “script” from the Mad Men days?

I like it and it fits the car well.
Cadillac can do more with this shape. The wreath creates a round shape on a car that has many hard lines and edges. It is like a round peg in square hole.
The new emblem blends well with the new design.
I am all for it.
New crest is nice but, in my opinion, CADILLAC should keep the wreath….just love the way it looks on my new ATS 🙂 🙂
Does anyone really understand that Cadillac for nearly half its life in the days of the great cars did not have a wreath in the 20’s trough the 50’s.
Correct, I believe the wreath didn’t start until 1963. The new logo still has Cadillac heritage. Very few logos have great colors in them- the Alfa Romeo one still looks great, and it has a green snake in it! Think how lame the Lexus, Toyota, Infiniti, Audi and Lincoln logos are- as far as logos go, Cadillac is a unique, CLEAR WINNER. I think the two best luxury car logos are Cadillac and BMW, both have color and MEANING, which translates into the brand having a soul.
Agreed! Those other cars have simple emblems and people buy them all the time!
Emblems don’t sell cars! The stuff inside and outside do!
The wreath was on in the very early years till into the 20’s. Then it vanished till around 69-70. So in truth it was long gone for many years and no one complained then.
The emblem needs to be part of the styling not just an add on. The car has hard lines and few curves. The round emblem looks as if it is a round peg in a square hole and has no relationship to the styling.
Anyone take a look here how the emblem relates to the grill? Note the bottom even has the V there so the nose on the car is really a big emblem imagery wise. Smart design if you ask me. they have made the emblem and styling become one.
