There’s a lot of numbers to think about when it comes to towing. What’s the vehicle’s max tow rating? What’s the trailer’s tongue weight? How much does the trailer affect the performance of the towing vehicle? Et cetra. For the inexperienced, it’s a lot to think about. Thankfully, GMC has launched a new trailering app to help do the job properly.
The app uses info and tips from the GMC.com website, including maximum trailer weight ratings by model. When consumers first launch the app, they can access information either by selecting a specific GMC model or by entering their trailering needs, from where the app can sort out which GMC truck or SUV is appropriate for the job.
Also featured is a dedicated learning center that includes:
- Trailering 101
- Hitches and equipment
- Pre-trailering checklist
- How GMC trailering technologies work
- Power and performance information
- Safe trailering techniques
In addition, a third section of the app contains a glossary of commonly-used terms, and a fourth that focuses on dinghy (flat) towing. The app is also supplemented by video content that includes Trailering 101 clips developed earlier this year in conjunction with the launch of the all-new 2014 GMC Sierra 1500 full-size pickup. Additional “How To” video content will be added over time to enhance the app’s user experience.
