Callaway Prices Supercharged 2014 Silverado And Sierra Kits At $17,395

Callaway, one of the largest names in V8 performance (along with Lingenfelter), has released pricing for its supercharger packages for GM’s new K2XX-based pickups — the 2014 Chevy Silverado and 2014 GMC Sierra. Would-be buyers are looking at $17,395 for the 5.3L L83 V8 kit, while more options are on their way for the 4.3L LV3 V6 and 6.2L L86 V8.

Sure, both the new Silverado and Sierra have solid powertrains thanks to the new Small Block, but no one has ever complained about extra power, with Callaway stating that there will be a 25 percent increase in power, or 450 horses, to be exact.

The plans have been in the works for some time now, as we saw a few weeks ago. Now if only we could get our hands on one of these kits.

  1. I’m excited to see what power numbers they come up with a supercharged 6.2!

  2. 25% I have installed a few of these and normally when you put a S/C on a V8 the power bump is about 40%-50%! So 300 HP 5.3 of a few years ago would net about 440/450 HP!

Not sure how or why the numbers have come down, if you have any ideas I’d like to hear about them!

So if the 6.2 comes in around 430 HP, are we talking around 525 ish HP?

I will say this I think it’s sad that we have come to this point in the car business that you can just pay a company some money and bam you have a lot more performance!

I know they use to have these same parts decades ago, but back then you need to buy what you need, and install them in your drive way on a weekend! Now anyone with a check book can have this level of performance which is sad!

You use to have to know how to use a wrench or two to be one of the guys on the block that has a car or truck they performed like this!

    1. No different than laying down the cash for a supercharged camaro, Cadillac , or corvette. People with money get whatever they want , but in my opinion they don’t appreciate it like those of us who save up for our mods and do them ourselves . That being said, I plan on buying a new Denali next year and if I had the extra 20 grand or so, I’d be dropping it off at Lingenfelter or Callaway.

    2. We pay construction companies to build our homes, put in swimming pools; restaurants to make our food, actually farmers to grow it in the first place. Different scenarios but same idea, not everyone has the capacity to do it themselves

      1. Having a fast car or truck is not essential to life, eating and having shelter is!

There use to be a term called a gear head! Now that term is almost gone!

That’s when men use to be men, with bloody knuckles that equaled fast cars!

Now it’s just so called men with a check book!

        1. There’s still lots of “gearheads” out there Ritter, and there are a lot of people who are passionate about cars who don’t have the mechanical knowhow to do a head swap on a small block on the weekend. You can’t fault them for that. The only thing that bugs me are people who buy a car purely for status, the guy who buys a 560 hp M5 and never squeals a tire. Those type of people should have to drive an old pinto.

          1. I can and I will! And here’s why they drive and talk about those cars like they are the ones who are responsible for the performance!

They don’t know what they are talking about but they act like they do!

            1. Sure, there are people like you describe, but you’re creating a stereotype. My point is there are people who are not master mechanics but love cars, that’s a fact. It doesn’t make them any less deserving of a nice car just because they can’t do their own work.

              1. You should have to be able to do those things if you want to be in that club!

Which is my point I’m a fan of sports I can watch but I will never be apart of those league’s why I don’t have the skills to be on that team!

Same goes for cars you can be a fan of cars but if you don’t have the skills to make hp on your own then I don’t feel you have the right to be apart of that group simply because you have a check book!

As for liking to argue not true I just don’t like fake people!

          2. Then those gearheads you talk about are well not really gearheads at all!

That’s like saying I love sports but I never watch or go to games!

            Reply
            1. So by your logic if you love sports you should be able to dunk a basketball, or hit a 90 mph fastball, or kick a 50 yard field goal right? Dude, I think you just like to argue…

        2. I think the thing that scares people off putting a supercharger on at home would be the tuning on a newer vehicle, rather than the labor and the actual work. Now you not only need to know how to use a wrench, but a computer as well.

I trust a company like Callaway or Lingenfelter to have all the tuning sorted out more-so than just a plug in chip I bought off the internet and hope it works with the supercharger/cam/heads/injectors/pulleys…

          1. when you install a SC kit it comes with a programmer for the computer which is a simple plug and play, just as easy as the wrenching.

            Reply
            1. Ah, I should have done my homework haha. Do most kits come with a programmer for whichever application it’s intended for?

              Reply
              1. yes they all do unless its a race only kit,you can put a smaller pulley and bigger injectors for more boost, then you need a custom program

  3. I’ve also done a few on the 6.2 camaro with edelbrock kits who claim 599 hp, sure makes the weight disappear fast. I think one of these kits on a 1le would be the best bang for the buck, install price here about $10000.

  4. So around 20K after taxes for a 25% gain? Why would anyone really do that?! There are numerous other types that you can buy that will have your 5.3L producing between 450-575bhp and 487-605tq for between 5-7k for the parts and around 1000 to 1500 for instal and come with between a 3 year 36,000 mile warranty and 5 year 100,000 mile warranty. So tell me again why spend at least double if not triple to have less power, its all for the name, thats it. Not sure about anyone else on here but theres no way i would be spending my money on this. Not worth it in my opinion. If anyone doubts check out the new whipple supercharger or even the magnesun or the magnum. Even some of the off brand stuff has more power producing and still has warranties. What a joke. Haha
