Cadillac “Estill” Concept Rendered By Artist

Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance is taking place this weekend in California, and Cadillac plans to debut a new concept car at the convergence of some of the world’s most passionate auto aficionados. That hasn’t discouraged designer Ondrej Jirec of California to render a futuristic Cadillac concept of his own, which isn’t necessarily in line with what The Wreath and Crest brand has in mind for its future.

Keeping in mind that Jirec’s renderings (found on Diseno-Art) are not that of GM, the designer set out to accomplish the following three goals with the Estill:

  1. The car had to remind us of older models long gone, yet not scream “retro.”
  2. The Estill concept had to be instantly recognizable as a Cadillac.
  3. It had to appear conceptual and futuristic without looking like a sci-fi toy.

The Estill’s dimensions suggest that it would have to be mid-engined, would it would be a damn shame if it wasn’t RWD or AWD. The design, albeit very futuristic, certainly falls in line with the Cadillac‘s Art & Science design philosophy, and reminds us of the Aera Concept from 2010. Perhaps something along the lines of Jirec’s Estill could find a place as a Cadillac supercar… or a jet that had its wings cut off. Whatever it is, we like it. Do you?

  2. I would have to see more of this to get a better impression. But right now Cadillac has a lot of real work to do before they worry about a very limited mid engine car.

Lets get the lines we have competitive and do a coupe and convertible first and may be a small front engine sports car then worry about this mid engine segment.

I am looking forward to Pebble Beach and seeing if we get a glimpse of where the LTS may be going.

Cadillac needs to walk before they can run so we may dream but there is work to do before we get segment crazy.

  4. I like it and it’s kool but a two seat roadster and a lts should be first!

Why are people so in love with mid engine designs?

Does it make the car faster? Is it just a status symbol?

If it’s for status then I say no, front engine mount works just fine doesn’t cost as much to design

  5. As an initial rendering I like it. Remember, it’s only a concept and a drawing at this stage. I agree with Brian Ritter. There seems to be a fascination with rear-engine and mid-engine design in exotic cars. It tends to drive exotic sticker prices as well. I always liked the Cadillac XLR. This car looks like the XLR Version 2.0.

  7. Some may say that is ugly, but I say that is a great, respectful concept.
