Let’s briefly take a step back to the days when General Motors embarked on transforming the brand from an aging relic to one that’s full of life, excitement, and red-blooded passion. Back then, Art & Science program was new and slightly ambiguous, the CTS was entering its first generation, and the high-performance V-Series line was just emerging. The year was 2004, and that’s when General Motors released this commercial, which draws parallels between the new V-Series family (XLR-V, CTS-V, and STS-V) and a bullet rapidly leaving a gun’s chamber.
In the ad, all three cars slowly back up into their own tunnel, and get ready (locked and loaded). They then shoot out of the tunnel (the chamber) with blistering velocity. All we hear is the falling of an empty shell. “Bang”, says the narrator, as the commercial presents the new Vs, each capable of a 0-60 time of under 5 seconds.

The GM Authority Take
Oh how far has Cadillac come with the ATS, 2014 CTS, and the (as-of-yet) unannounced V-Series variant of each.
Now, who said the past was boring?

I remember this one, definitely a classic. I hope they do something similar once the new v lineup is finished!
completely agree. Maybe they could do something along the lines of when you get the car you also receive a pilots license…it would be a similar message to this…and people i think would “get” it.
GM needs to show what these new cars can do against there rivals! Not only in performance but cost as well! These ads need to point out how much better they perform and at half the cost, or what applies!
The CTS-V is a beast and needs to be shown in a ad that takes on its rivals showing the numbers between the cars!
I disagree. The V-series should not be seen as ‘budget performance luxury’. If GM did that, it would hold down Cadillac from commanding higher prices as other hi-po luxury cars do. Cadillac should not be the Wal-mart of sport luxury, ever.
A Cadillac in V trim should not use its price should not be a selling point. HP, TQ, skid, slalom, DSG, lots of other technological features, and good Nurburgring time are what sell cars in that segment.
whats “Bot”? @Alex
A typo. Fixed.
Thanks for the heads up 🙂
Can someone explain to me why the EPA is trying to feed us bs about hybrids and at the same time trying to get amazing vehicles like the ones in the video off the road?
