It might not be set to arrive until late 2015, but the next-generation Chevrolet Cruze sedan has been spotted once again in the wild, with another layer of camouflage removed. As seen by the photos found on Motor Authority, the 2016 Cruze that was spotted has its rear fascia completely exposed, along with the sides of the vehicle.
Covered up still was the front, which appears to sport a stubbier design than the current model, possibly indicating that the upcoming D2XX-based Cruze will utilize smaller displacement engines from an all-new engine family. Yet it’s anticipated that the 2016 Cruze will be longer than the current 2014 model, which should mean more cabin space, rear legroom and trunk volume, as what’s known as the C-segment vehicle class continues to swell in size.

Those doors kind if looks like astra’s doors
Not only the doors, the hole front looks very Astra. This Cruze has even the Opel/Buick-“wing” in the headlights.
except for the grille which is more of the Tru 140S/Sonic-ish
Too Sonic-ish for my liking although it’s early. Needs to be a little more aggressive — raked like the Mitsubishi?
Or just put the impala grille
G M got my hopes up with the great work at Buick, Caddy, Opel and even with the Impala.
I had high hopes for this car and the Malibu refresh. LET DOWN!
They might as well just import Beat or one of those junk cars.
A part of me is really hoping the front fascia on these mules is but a ruse. With the dynamic and crisp designs that have been on the new Impala and Malibu, it seems that doing a “big” Sonic would be……well, underwhelming.
Blah…
This has Malibu written all over it from a disaster standpoint if this is the real deal.
Think Elantra, or even Mazda 3. THE Dart even has more to visually offer.
C seg is a cash cow globally so hope the don’t mess up.
People said the current cruze was going to fail even after they saw the entire car and they were wrong!
If the front and rear fascias are nearly identical to the Tru 140s concept, the car will be beautiful. So far it, looks like that will be the case.
While the title says it is uncovered there is still much of the detail still covered here,
This is like a female movie star with no make up on. At this point I would not get too excited as there are many details on the nose that are still well covered.
Too early to pass judgment here yet either way.
One factor to keep in mind this is a global car and the Impala is not. Like the traverse they share styling but the global Chevys have not. Is this a trend we are seeing?
He– I thought the same thing. Uncovered My Backside There isn’t anything here we haven’t seen already. I’m just hoping it would get here sooner than they say because I kind of like what I see.
The rear looks kinda like a Hyundai Sonata, did anyone else get that vibe? Front looks crunched up, hope they don’t make it look like a super compact city car, the current front end is great don’t fix it if it isn’t broke.
Lol was there a dent in the rear bumper? And if you look closely I swear the Astra has the exact same window design and sideview mirrors as this Cruze.
Where are all the people that said the cruze would be a failure? The new cruze will be a home run for GM across the world!
Well we can better judge that once we know something. Right now there is little than these photos to judge it by.
An informed opinion is an intelligent observation.
There is not enough here to praise or condemn this car. Lets them give us some more to work with before we get too crazy on predictions.
Based on recent cars I think you may be correct but how would you really know? Are you one of the drivers in the spy shots?
The current car was put to death before it got to the states I have no doubt that GM will bring a winner to this segment again
Now if we can just get people to stop buying honda and Toyota crap
IMHO it picks up the current “look” of the Sonic, which is no bad thing. Hope the coming 1.5 turbo has some more guts and perhaps it’ll end up with an 8 speed transaxle.
Will the 8 speed be co built with ford? Like the 6 speeds were?
We think alike! Could have said it better !
Now what the hell is this ?
CHEVY needs to capture the ‘it’ factor that has driven Focus to sales leader.
GM needs to really work on brand missio–in Europe, they use Astra to battle Focus, with Astra leading in UK,while Cruze is aimed at Skoda.
What does that mean for US sales. Will Cruze ever beat Focus with this sort of built in handicap?
I am no fan of Sonic, and wish Chevy would chase the Koreans. Forte and Elantra are sexy sub compacts and Elantra looks almost midsized.
Somehow GM management things that only one body style will do the trick as well
