The guys over at TopSpeed have come up with an idea of what the all-new Chevrolet Colorado (if it ends up being called that) will look like when GM finally pulls the cover off.
The rendering is based on the massive amount of spy photos that have been posted on the internet for quite some time now, and is distinctively different from the global model that is currently for sale outside of the United States. Chances are the 2015 Chevrolet Colorado (and GMC Canyon) will feature GM’s new 4.3L Small-Block-based V6 EcoTec3 engine, while we are also hoping there’s a diesel engine in the cards. That would be just lovely.

This looks way better then the global truck. Hope this is what the US model looks like.
This is a nice looking truck the 4.3 will be a great all new motor, a diesel would be nice! Good job GM
I hope this rendering is wrong because I personally think it looks hideous. It looks like some kind of an inbred version of the Chevy Colorado.
I agree. The World version is far better looking and further removed from that nonsense they call the Silverado.
Totally agree, but I suspect it is close to the real deal. I would love the global version’s facia to be swappable, but from what I’ve seen of prototypes, the lights are being retooled to make that non-trivial.
I don’t like either of them, I have no words for this one and the world one looks like a malibu ute.
It looks to sterile / generic. A 5.3L V8 would do a lot to improve its appearance.
We were told there’d be no common engines between the full-size & mid-size pick-ups.
The 4.3 is a truck motor/ the 3.6 is a car motor. Make it a truck that I can use. My 1998 S-10 is getting old and I refused to buy a colorado with 5 cyl. engine or a car motor….. I like the mid sized truck that I use as a everyday driver and a weekend hauler. Chevy beter get on the ball SOON or I will have to downgrade to a tacoma. The old S-10 pickups came with a 2.8 and they were a car motor that couldn’t handle the stress of a pickup. Keep it simple, 4cyl. diesel or 4.3 new gen. motor and trans……………..
A 3.9L I5 Diesel and a 4.3L Turbo Ecotec3 V6 with a new Honeywell turbo with two smaller impellers and one turbine (which is like 2 turbo’s in one) and is expected to be as powerful as two too!
Kind of plain, but I guess it’s a little better then my/the current Colorado. I am hoping for something better then this though, looks to generic, glad/hope it’s just a rendering and not what comes out!
I am glad you guys are not in charge of designing anything for GM! Will any of you ever be happy with what GM does?
I expect to be ok with whatever GM does. I just wait to see.
I see none better than GM.
I like everything they’ve been putting out. This rendering though, doesn’t look that good. The grill just looks wrong. Based on what GM’s been putting out, I expect the actual truck will look much better.
It is better than the last truck as it has a refreshed look as the global truck looked like the aging Nox.
I have always been more a GMC guy so I am waiting for that.
Like I said before I hope they can move the rear axle or do something with the 4 door as the rear axle looks too far forward and has a awkward look about it. The ext and standard cabs look ok.
I expect the 4, Turbo 4, diesel and may be a V6 with DOHC in this one. I expect a real push on the turbo 4 in this. The key to this truck will be MPG as it has to do what the full size can’t do and I do not expect this to out haul or tow but it can beat it in MPG. This is the answer to the Ecoboost F150.
I find it funny you make up your mind based off one pic, at least look at it in person before killing it
This looks much better than the global truck. I would love to see a rendering of the off-road ZR2 style.
I would like to see a rugged 4×4 as well
I like the look. Seems to be a little hefty though. If it can’t get high 20s for mpg, not sure why anyone would buy this over a silverado.
I like the look, definitely better than the last version. Hope this is a close depiction of it and that a diesel engine comes along too.
How in the hell can you tell how hefty something is from a pic! You have no stats or info so you just talk neg about it with nothing to back up your clam!
At least let it hit show room floors before it’s a failed product!
i kinda doubt it
I like dat! Looks way better than the full size one. I like the Chevy “identity”- it LOOKS like a Chevy, plus it has the modern F-150 windshield slant/aerodynamics. The front looks “strong” yet the corners taper off for a modern/aero look, without looking stupid like the new Jeep Cherokee. The side styling looks good too, not quite as good on the bed as the last GMC Colorado, but I like the detail that breaks up (what would have been) big bland sheet metal. Front bumper looks strong in body color, when GM chromes them they look cheap now.
GM must add a EREV or a BEV version to the Colorado options, since many will buy this as their primary vehicle. GM will get a big headstart against Ford and all the imports which will try to offer a hybrid or electric pickup.
The problem is they have already tried the hybrid In the full size and they were too expensive and sold in such low numbers. This is not a segment that has much interest in Hybrids.
Second electric in a truck of this size still would have a very short range and limited load capacity.
They are two good ideas that just have no chance of selling well right now in this segment.
As for styling generally half love a new design and half hate it at intro. Over time 90% like it or accept it and 10% just keep on hating. Just the nature of the market. Keep in mind that it is common for people to hate a fully camo’s up car let along a computer mock up that is not 100%. They just can’t seem to wait to see something in the sheet metal before they hate.
An informed opinion is always best but some can’t wait.
I was fine with the global model’s look, but i have to say this looks a hold lot better. I too hope that they come with the 4.3 V6 and 2.8 diesel option.
Were’s the HYBRID ?
Brian r, we are only talking about cars and trucks here. There’s no real reason to get upset.
It’s a damn truck you guys! – a tool. How many different ways can you design a hammer?
the front of this just looks like if the F150 and Malibu have a baby
The truck looks clean and fine, though somewhat dull. Just like the Silverado. So, it would not surprise me if it ends up looking like this. Like Scott, I suspect the 2.0T will be the workhorse engine for fuel economy reasons. After all, if it doesn’t get significantly better fuel economy than the Silverado, why buy less of a truck? A diesel would be nice as well.
Hybrid trucks they are with all the others that GM tried to sell and no one wanted.
It’s not bad when I look at it more I get use to it better, but I would like to see an adequate offroad package.. And make it have a little bolder look would be nice. If GM doesn’t make an offroad sport full size, that would be my choice.. Just my opinion.
Based on spy shots on Motor Trend’s website, the front end needs to be revised on the rendering. It’s not as squared off as the rendering shows. It’s more trapezoidal. Good rendering though.
It just needs to be squared off a little more, and add the new 4.3 V6 engine.
Keep the automatic gear shift in the steering column. Give us a 5 or 6 cylinder diesel option (who wants to drive a truck with only 4 cylinders????). Offer z71 and good ground clearance for those off road adventures. And give it a snow plow preparation kit! Small trucks are good for plowing small places!
All I got to say is 4.3 and ZR2 package.
I LIKE the look that I see, it looks like a cross between a s-10 and a colorado. If it comes with a 4.3, 6 speed I will finally get a new truck when it hits the showroom floor. GM better hurry up and bring it on my 98 S-10 is getting TIRED!!!!!
Do you think there’s room for a smaller truck a real mini truck?
A fwd truck with a small bed that gets mid 30s mpg! A truck you could use as a little parts truck or something you might take to lowes for a sink or toilet!
