Pfadt Engineering’s Packages Turn Cadillac ATS Into 350 Or 450 Horsepower Beast

Pfadt Engineering is known for their performance upgrades for Corvettes, Camaros, and more recently, the Cadillac ATS. The tuning firm offers standalone go-fast parts along with packages for those with a need for speed.

The $4,900, the P/450 Package for the Cadillac ATS 2.0T turns the already-entertaining sedan into something that’s quite the monster, bringing the power figures up to 450hp and 400 lb-ft of turque, allowing an ATS equipped with this very kit to run at 162.5mph in the Texas Mile.

For those that want extra boost but require something a bit more conservative, the P/350 Package is also available. For a reasonable $1,199, the ATS‘ 2.0 liter turbocharged LTG mill (that makes 272 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque standard) is upgraded to a stout 350 hp. The components involved in yielding the 350 horses include a Pfadt carbon-fiber cold-air intake, a Pfadt Downpipe (catted or catless), and a Pfadt flash engine tune with logging — not a bad package for about $1,200.

Along with a new ATS, we’ll add one of these packages to our Christmas list.

  1. everybody always just bumps up the boost but how much shorter are they cutting the longevity of the engine?

  2. Bring on the small, light weight RWD that GM is mulling!

  3. The engines can handle these increases easily. These are not just some crappy engine that was built to just good enough standards.

The Ecotec can take more HP easily with only a few mods up to a reliable 500 HP.

I got to spend time with the late John Lingenfelter when he was racing the Ecotec. He was amazed at the power and durability of the stock parts. He started with a stock head and block and ran it up to 1500 HP before the head broke. At that time there still was not racing head and he just used a head from the Saab Eco engine. What he learned was added to my LNF engine that is may daily drive with 390 HP 315 FT LBS and can see 23 PSI of boost regularly. It was even covered under the GM warranty since it was their upgrade kit.

Note the torque was limited due to the transaxle. The RWD Solstice was good to 340 FT LBS.

But why bother when the ATSv is not that far out and will be better sorted and possible as much or more HP with extra suspension tuning and body work to go with it.

Give us 300 HP and 3200 pounds in a small rwd and we will be golden.

  4. If i’m not mistaken the factory upgrade kit was good for 290HP, so your car with the Lingenfelter touch is getting another 100HP over that?

    1. No I have the 290 HP GM kit but my company had John racing for us with a GMC that had a 1500 HP 6 second GMC truck. This was one of the first racing Eco engines and he had to use many stock parts since no racing parts were available. He found the limits on many of the stock parts and he was amazed how much the engine will take.

GM now has a Ecotec performance book out that list the limits of the parts of each version of the engine. It is eye opening at what it will do.
