While it’s not revving at wide open throttle around the Nürburgring (yet), we now have an early glimpse of what the 2014 Corvette Stingray’s exhaust system sounds like at idle in three different modes. Altogether, there’s supposedly six: sport, tour, auto, city, stealth and off altogether.
There’s a very noticeable difference from the second mode to the first and third. While it’s not specified, we’re going to assume that this is stealth mode, and certainly does a great job in silencing the thunder emitting from the Corvette’s LT1 V8. But of course, all we want to hear is the 455 horsepower sports car at the limit — something we hope to accomplish very soon.

Yippie!!! Seeing the early test reports from Automobile and R&T, Juechter and the rest of GM crew should have spent the time tuning the car for better performance than the sound the exhaust makes. No matter how the car sounds, it will not disguise the fact the car is heavy and outright sluggish. The quarter mile time and breaking distance are right on par with C6. To see this revolutionary car separated merely by the difference in tires is right down depressing. Oh but yes, it sounds better, LOL.
As it is, Cadillac CTS V Coupe offers considerably better value, with exactly same performance and for less money. If even more money is to be saved and better performance is the objective, Ford Mustang GT500 is the real winner. Congrats GM!!!
MotorTrend did a story on the Stingray and test drove it
Post the results
GREAT video, now i really want one—green with a brown interior please
LOL, is this Jeep Wrangler or Corvette? Hard to tell from the amount of suspension travel.
go to youtube and type in “first 2014 Corvette stingray burnout” and youll see CarandDriver revving the balls off a C7 and shredding those Sport Cup tires. Sounds like Detroit violently raping Germany and the rest of Europe
GT 500 ? So you need a top of the line mustang to compare to a base model vette… try your base mustang against the non z51 base corvette… then let’s see the ZR1 against the 500… heck.. you can have the Z06 instead, just to make it fair..lol
