Corvette Racing Holds Off SRT Motorsports To Win GT Class Of Mobil 1 SportsCar Grand Prix

Corvette Racing managed to qualify second in GT qualifying for the Mobil 1 SportsCar Grand Prix after setting the second-fastest lap time in the No. 3 Compuware Corvette C6.R, despite Jan Mangnussen putting the car into the tire wall soon after. Meanwhile, drivers Oliver Gavin and Tommy Milner qualified sixth in the No. 4 car. The qualifying positions didn’t seem to matter much to the defending ALMS GT champs, as they quickly moved to the front of the pack, and drove without incident for the entire race at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, all the way to a first-place finish.

That’s not to say the race didn’t offer its fair share of drama in the GT class, as the last nail-biting minutes were highlighted by Milner holding off SRT Motorsports’ Dominik Farnbacher in the No. 91 Viper GTS-R, finishing ahead by just 0.267 seconds of the American rival team. SRT also finished third, with the pole-sitting No. 93 Viper driven by Kuno Wittmer and Jonathan Bomarito.

Meanwhile, the No. 3 Corvette of Jan Magnussen and Antonio Garcia just missed the podium with a fourth-place finish, but ahead of the No. 56 BMW Team RLL BMW Z4 GTE of Joey Hand and Dirk Mueller in fifth.
