C7 Corvette Z06, C7.R To Debut At NAIAS 2014?

Today’s a great day to be a Corvette fan. At midnight, GM officially released the fuel economy numbers of the 2014 Stingray, and the highway mileage is the best from any V8 sportscar out there. Then we had the opportunity to report on Redline Motorsports announcing its 625 hp twin-turbo Adrenaline Rush package for the C7 Corvette. And now there’s word that the all-new Corvette Z06 is right around the corner.

According to a blurb from Jalopnik, the C7 Corvette Z06 will debut at an upcoming event alongside the unveiling of the new Corvette Racing C7.R. Such a high-octane unveiling is enough to warrant its own special event separate from any auto show, but there’s also the high possibility that the cars could surface during the 2014 North American International Auto Show. If that’s the case, it would be GM’s attempt to steal the thunder from the expected unveiling of the all-new 2015 Ford Mustang, and who knows what else. NAIAS 2014, held beginning January 13, 2014, would also mark an optimal time for the C7.R to debut, as it will be just before the start of the 2014 racing season, where Corvette Racing will be competing in the 24 Hours of Daytona that same month, on January 25-26.

What’s more, considering how early the Jalops unearthed accurate renderings of the 2014 Corvette Stingray, credibility is on their side with this prediction. Though that’s not to say we won’t do some fact checking of our own — of course we will. Anybody want to have a guess at the power output of the next-generation Z06? And will it keep its naturally aspirated characteristics? We most certainly hope so.

  1. I’m thinking 575hp with curb weight around 3100lbs. As for the ZR1 when it does arrive, 700hp.

    1. I believe the Z06 will be over 600HP, I’m thinking 610HP. I would think Andrew is right on the weight of the car.

  3. I’ve heard the ZO6 will stay lightweight and naturally motivated as it’s aimed at the guys that want to track their Corvette. 550-575 hp is to be expected. The ZR1 will be the ultra-luxury, bragging rights, high-horsepower mothership. I too think it’ll hit 700hp.

  4. Very interesting article. Back in early April I wrote an article entitled “One-14-Fourteen” in which I advocated the need for GM to introduce the new Z06 ASAP and also suggested they introduce it at the NAIAS no later than 1-14-14 in a campaign similar to the introduction of the C7 “One-13-Thirteen”. The article speculates as well on the performance necessary in light of the new competition and compares the performance of competitiors. 13. 2015 C7 ZO6 will have a Flat Plane Crank 7.0L 427ci. A very high 9-9.5K redline 605-625HP
“just drooling thinking about that engine note”
    And the VERY LATE 2014/ early 2015 (as a 2016 model) C7 ZR1
“back to roots like the C4 ZR1″
(DUAL Overhead cam) 6.0L forced induction V8 725-750HP
But, heard a rumor it could be a 5.5L
Also, herd a very plausible chance there might be a ZL1 corvette..
Pretty much all the ZO6 lightness with all the ZR1 power, no luxuries just striped out RAW powerful Drivers car, like the new Camaro Z/28 will be.
    ” limited edition though”
