2014 Chevrolet Silverado, GMC Sierra 1500 Double Cabs Now Online At Fort Wayne

After launching solely with the crew cab variant, the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra 1500 pickup lineup will begin offering the double cab, which began rolling off the Fort Wayne, Indiana assembly plant this week. The double cab replaces the extended cab body style, while still offering the practicality of four doors like the larger crew cab. Look for them at your local dealership soon.

  2. I do trust all of the ideas you’ve introduced in your post. They are very convincing and can certainly work. Still, the posts are very quick for newbies. May you please prolong them a little from next time? Thanks for the post.

  3. The Extended cab may be fading into the past.

Sales of crew and these double cabs climbing and the higher crash standards and stiffer cabs I can see the extend cabs going away in the near future. That is a shame as I like them.

    1. I agree that for many people the extended cab is handier with the “suicide door” providing the driver easier access to stuff in the rear of the cab. Here in the Northeast, where unlike Texas trucks are usually not the primary family vehicle and 4 doors aren’t a necessity, the extended cab outsells the crew by over a 2-to-1 margin. With the double cab providing easier access to rear seat passengers some crew-cab intenders will opt to save some money and buy the 4 door double-cab, but for some current extended cab owners the double cab style just will not work as well. Upside is that this is a great truck. If you haven’t seen it get yourself down to your local bowtie dealer now!

    2. Exactly. I have a 2011 GMC Extended cab and love the rear doors because I can stand in pone place and load stuff into the front OR back. With the new 2014 (shopping for one) all they have is the “Double cab” with 4 doors. To access the rear seat area I have to walk AROUND the open rear door. What a pain! They should have had the rear doors (if they really needed them open like the old Lincoln “suicide” doors.
