Even though Team Chevrolet wasn’t as successful as we would have liked it to be in the 2013 Detroit Belle Else Grand Prix, that didn’t stop President of GM North America Mark Reuss from putting a pre-production 2014 Corvette C7 Stingray Pace Car painted in Laguna Blue Tintcoat through its paces on the track.
In this video, Mr. Reuss discusses what it’s like to drive the pace car (a thrill), his favorite parts of the track (which changed slightly for 2013), and Active Rev Matching — his favorite feature of the C7 that blips the throttle and matches the gear perfectly, thereby making expert drivers out of everyone.
A few particularly attention-catching parts of the video include those fascinating pace car-only flashing lights and that bewitchingly sexy exhaust note at 1:16.
