Quality has been, is, and always will be one of the primary factors in purchasing a vehicle. So it’s important for automakers to take extreme measures in order to ensure it. And General Motors shows us how its done with the manufacturing of the 2014 Chevrolet Impala at the Detroit-Hamtramck assembly plant, along with the tools used in the process.
From a simple stick that measures panel gap spacing, to a “sniffer” that detects leaks in the hoses around the engine bay, to super-soft ostrich feathers to sweep the car before it’s painted, have a look at the tools of the trade in the video below.

2014 Impala just ‘blew’ away ever other vehicle in its class and then some according to Consumer Reports. Here is link indicating 95 rating and Impala being even better than vehicles $20,000.00 more. Sounds like GM is sending a message to other vehicle manufacturers that they are back to let those other manufacturers know where the bar is now set at 95 rating! I drove one with the 3.6 V^ and it’s AWESOME! Although I bought the wife a leftover 2013 because of the great deal…we can’t wait til’ next year or so and trade up! Way to go GM!
