When General Motors officially reports its May 2013 U.S. sales results later today, it will be none other than the 110-year-old Cadillac brand that will be the star of the show — with a 40 percent sales increase in May 2013 (vs. May 2012), and a 38 percent increase year-to-date (year-over-year for 2013).
“Cadillac is back.” said Bob Ferguson, vice president, Global Cadillac. “Our growth is product-driven, new luxury vehicles with dramatic design and performance drawing new customers to showrooms.”
The brand’s May 2013 sales results will mark the 12th consecutive month of sales growth at Cadillac in the U.S., and the year-to-date increase of 38 percent will be the brand’s largest since 1976.
“Cadillac is growing faster than it has in almost 40 years, the pickup rebound is in full swing and we’re seeing strong retail demand for our crossovers” said Kurt McNeil, vice president of U.S. sales operations. “These are all powerful signs that the gradual recovery in the economy is becoming more broad-based. That’s great news for the auto industry and General Motors.”
Stars of the May sales report will include the ATS — the 2013 North American Car of the Year — which is enjoying a 70 percent conquest rate of buyers choosing their first Cadillac, along with the XTS (best retail sales month) and Escalade (best May sales since 2008). Overall, sales of Cadillac’s sedan portfolio is up 122 percent so far in 2013 — and we have no reason to believe that the all-new 2014 CTS, ATS-V, ATS Coupe, LTS sedan, as well as other new vehicles won’t drive the brand’s global growth well into the future.

well, congrats to Cadillac; my new ATS will be one of those in the sales figures. It is a wonderful car and glad I’m a Cadillac owner again.
i’ve been watching cadillac an its moves in the lux segments and they have been very aggresive and competitive with their lineup especially in recent yrs. they have taken major strides in vehicle design and engineering and its all starting to pay dividends. cadillac is serious about being a major player in the lux segments and are serious about being standard of the world, and their progression in the segments are freakishly similar to audi’s!…great job caddy!!!
can you believe a mere 9 years ago Cadillac was being laughed at by its german counterparts ? its crazy and now that are one of thee most exciting brands to watch…..and i know they arent laughing anymore…….cadillac is about break the benchmarks the M5 and M3 and there is nothing BMW can do about…….American car companies are about to take the world by storm….i hope its ready 😉
The first gen CTS debuted in 2002, and nobody on any forum thought it was anything but a tarted up Catera; that Cadillac should stick to the rolling out new K and E bodies, and that the “CTS experiment” would be over before the end of the decade.
I was one of those idiots in the forums back then, and to this day, I’m glad I was wrong about Cadillac.
I really, really hope that in a few years, Cadillac will be a global brand once more.
No need to hope Jay they WILL become a global brand again and will be top 4 with the Germans occupying the remaining spots. Cadillac is probably more focused than they’ve ever been in its illustrious history and looking @ the new line up it shows. Cadillac was a laughing stock just a decade ago and look @ them now, with new dynamic chassis an near flawless styling and a relentless pursuit of standard of the world. With a proper flagship coming soon and the new slade on the way and a few other vehicles on the way as well..the only other thing the wreath and crest needs is time!!
Like how Cadillac rebuilt itself from the bottom up. Gen 1 CTS that’s grown to midsize E-segment car for 2014. New ATS is an amazing first effort. That car will be refined and be a major player. There are still holes that need filled (LTS).
Cadillac, Cadillac, Cadillac style……………maybe the 80s are back in the best of ways 🙂 I bought Cadillac again…for the best of reasons
Cadillacs have always been the true best American car Brand.
