Shane Steelman’s C5 Corvette Z06Â was mangled, and its interior irreversibly damaged by the F5 tornados that freight-trained through Moore, Oklahoma at the end of May. This is to say nothing of his home, which was completely razed. In spite of it all, Shane, his girlfriend, and their dog managed to avoid being casualties themselves, fleeing the weather in their Chevy Trailblazer SS before it did any damage, according to Corvette Blogger.
In spite of it all, the custom LS-engine powering remained intact. And as a silver lining, it fired up on command, its custom grind cam chugging along, just before it was loaded onto a flat-bed truck, and written off by the insurance company.

Poor guy, I hope he can at least get back the drive train and put it in some kind of hot rod. Sounds much better then the guy tonight in a Mustang GT that was showing off in front of me at a light.
I have been onsite of what a F5 tornado can do. Lets just say I saw a full size couch 30ft up in a tree and about 200 yards from the house it came from.
This car is nothing compared to the Cobalt the Storm Chasers were in in the F3. It ripped the engine out and tossed the engine ands two of the chasers 1/4 mile from the car is different directions.
This is bad but it could have been so much worse.
If you are alive you can always rebuild.
The El Reno, OK storm that killed Carl Young, Tim Samaras, and Paul Samaras has been upgraded to an EF5 because of a reported wind measurement at 10 feet above the ground of 295 mph. Their Cobalt was completely rearranged. Very very sad that we lost them. They did alot of good.
