General Motors is carrying over the current-generation Chevy Silverado Heavy Duty models for the 2014 model year with very few changes, as the truck will remain in its current GMT900-era form until the all-new K2XX-generation Silverado HD models are ready in (what we expect to be) roughly a year or two after the launch of the all-new 2014 Silverado 1500 models.
So for 2014, the Silverado HD — which was originally announced and launched in its current form in 2010 — loses a bundle of equipment, starting with the loss of the extended cab models. Dropping the extended cab, which for the 2014 Silverado 1500 has been replaced by the Double Cab, has a domino effect on equipment associated with the cab confirmation, including the discontinuation of the 3-passenger rear bench seat, fixed rear access door windows, and power rear access door windows. Having lost the Extended Cab, the 2014 Silverado HD also loses two colors, including Concord Metallic and Blue Ray Metallic.

Hope those aren’t big fleet colors!!!
Let’s have some dealer incentives on this (targeted packages with dealer discounts only to increase margins) to drive stock and penetration before the new models come out.
They should of added “High Country” trim package with these 900 HD’s, wouldnt take much since all options can be barrowed from outgoing Denali HD, except for seat stitches and saddle brown interior color.
That concord metallic was a pretty color. I wish you would keep it.
Dissapointed that extended cab for 2500 HD will no longer be offered. Will have no choice but to but F250 in 2014.
There are plenty of 2013 extended cab 2500’s. and double cabs will be offered for 2015 MY with 2500/3500.
I have a customer that wanted a 14 extended cab 3500 HD SRW with an 8′ bed for his sander and none are available. Could not locate any 13’s with the color and LTZ or SLT package he wanted. Is it true that the extended cab will be back for 15′ MY ? Will it be in the double cab configuration that is available in the 14′ 1500 series?
I have been a loyal GM customer since 2000, using your trucks for my business and am EXTREMELY DISSAPPOINTED that I can no longer find a version of the dark blue color that has been on my trucks for 13 years. I currently wanted to replace my 2500HD 4WD with the extended cab/long bed and not only is the color not available, the extended cab is gone! I don’t know who GM contacts for their “Test Market” of colors and design, but you are missing the mark for the small business owner. I regret that I will now be seeking another manufacturer to find trucks that suits my company needs.
I think that the extended cab is gone to simplify the last model year build as the HD models will be replaced next year.
As for the dark blue, I have posted on that earlier. The color made the transition from GMT400 to GMT800, then was discontinued and replaced by a bright blue but dealer and customer uproar brought it back…..now it’s gone again. There is a blue topaz metallic on the LD models so I assume that it will be there on the HD models when they come but haven’t seen it side by side with the old blue.
I had a GMT800 in that color and loved it.
I’m very disappointed that extended cabs aren’t available. I have a 2500hd extra now and had planned to replace it with the same. I will not buy a regular cab or a crew cab so I’ll be forced to go to another manufacturer.
GM not keeping the extended Cab very disappointing. was wanting a 2014 ,if other companies build a 4 door, gm has to follow???
I am one more disappointed, longtime Chevy truck owner. It seems a “standard box” has become what we used to call a “short box”.
I have owned several 2500 HD “long bed” extended cab trucks over the years, as well as many C-20’s back in the day. It’s too bad that GM is catering to the soccer moms who want a “grocery/kid hauler”, and not the working people who need the long bed ext. cab. I have no use for a crew cab, but I like to use the ext. cab for tools. Just saying…
