“Something Special” On The Way For Buick

The average age of a Buick buyer may be 59, but the brand is full of young blood. In fact, when the 2014 Regal and 2014 LaCrosse hit showrooms, the oldest Buick in the lineup will be the Verano, which is not even two years old. But the new product push isn’t even close to being done, as GM North America President Mark Reuss mentioned to Automotive News

“Something special for Buick, I think, is really needed for the next phase of where that brand is going,” Reuss said, while managing to keep details a mystery. He did, however, claim that anything from a new coupe, convertible (perhaps like the Opel Cascada), or even something as futuristic as the Riviera Concept that was revealed in Shanghai recently, are all possibilities. Though which product would bring in the most sales to the brand is anybody’s guess.

  2. I’m 37 and although I don’t like to knock GM or Buick with exception of the European based models there’s nothing to get excited about at Buick.

  3. My brother is 28, his wife 27 with their first due at the end of June. She just bought a new white-diamond Verano.
One of my buddies who is my brother’s age, his wife loves Buick and will be their next purchase after selling/trading their 328

And, most people I see in new Buicks (save for the Lacrosse) look to be under 35. Buick is doing it right.

  4. Tbh my opinion probably don’t count as I’m European. If I had to choose a Buick it would be the Regal (Insignia) the Verano is good (Astra saloon) & I’ve no doubt the Encore (Mokka) is getting a younger audience too. However the LaCrosse as good as it is, is not exciting its FWD and just seems to be at a more mature audience, the Enclave seems an excellent Q7/X5 alternative but Buick needs more excitement, I wouldn’t normally care much but I worry GM’s European operations (Vauxhall & Opel) could go the same way as Buick boring softy non sporting fwd second or third choice range of cars.

    1. I wouldn’t compare the Q7 and X5 to the Enclave; the former two vehicles are more athletic. In all honesty, the Enclave is but a luxury-minivan replacement. Its closest competitor is probably the Infiniti JX35…
