According to Autoweek, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has received no less than 30 Corvette owners have reported having their headlights turn off while they’re driving during night hours suddenly and without warning. The situations vary, with some owners reporting that the lights would cut out intermittently while others reported having their lights go off and stay off for a period of time before turning back on. Oddly enough, most of the headlamps would illuminate again once the car had been parked.
As such, the NHTSA investigation could affect up to 103,000 base 2005 and 2006 C6 Chevrolet Corvette models along with the Z06 of the same model years. Thankfully, no accidents or injuries have been reported faulting the headlight issue.
General Motors is cooperating with the investigation.
