General Motors showed off its new, $130 million state-of-the-art data center located at its Warren, Michigan Technical Center — the company’s hub for global engineering. The facility will be one of the new locations that brings GM’s IT infrastructure in-house.
The 5,040-square-foot IT Operations and Command Center has 48 work stations and a 955-square-foot video wall composed of 28 configurable screens that monitor data use across operations around the clock. The Warren facility, along with the new facility in Milford, are part of a previously announced plan to transform GM’s global IT operations, consolidating 23 facilities into two by 2015, and bringing most of the IT work in-house.
