Community Question: What Are You Hoping To See Most From The 2014 Chevy Malibu?

A refresh for the Chevrolet Malibu for the 2014 model year is expected. With it are anticipatory visual changes, mechanical tweaks for improved fuel economy, and even improved rear leg room. But to just how great of an extent the quick change-up for the 2014 Malibu will be is a bit of a puzzle at the moment.

So while we’re hoping for several changes to help make the current-generation Malibu more of a contender, many of you may feel that the car is just missing one or two improvements before it gets back on track. For you, what are they? Is it going to be a more stylish design? More power (and how much more power)? Better fuel economy (how much better?) Lets us know what you’re hoping for with the 2014 Chevy Malibu in the comments below.

    2. I will second the V6. I understand that this won’t happen, but I truly think this a lost opportunity.

I definitely think a front end restyling is necessary. When you put the 2013 ‘Bu next to the Ford Fusion and Honda Accord, it looks stuck in the past. The picture at the top of this post is probably un-realistic (too much of a radical redesign after just one model year), but some crisper lines would do wonders.

  4. More aggressive front end design. It should take cues from the SS Sedan, the big lower grill, the LED running lights. As for features it should have blind spot monitoring and cross traffic alert. The Cruze (at a lower price) offer these options. And the new version of MyLink would be good.

  6. Looks just like the 2014 Impala and 2013 Traverse to me. And I see a lot of the new Cadillacs in this design. Although it is good looking I found the 2013 Malibu very appealing. Next thing you know, every one will be complaining too many of the cars look alike. Duh! Why change?

    1. Keep in mind that’s just a rendering of what someone thinks is a possibility of what the car will look like. It’s nothing official and not a real photo.

As for why the change, it’s because the Malibu is not doing as well as Chevy hoped and has come under a lot of criticism (and some of it is valid). The new Malibu is shaping up to be a bit of a miss and Chevy is trying to adjust to recover.
