As production commences for the all-new, bigger, more powerful, more efficient, more refined 2014 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra 1500 pickup trucks, it’s official that the selected rubber for the vehicles will come from Goodyear. And depending on which variant you get, a different Goodyear tire will be featured.
While the trim levels have yet to be specified, the following tires will be found on the new 2014 Silverado and Sierra:
- Goodyear Wrangler SR-A in sizes P275/55R20 and P265/65R18. The Wrangler SR-A looks to improve grip in the rain with WetTrac Technology, along with all-terrain capabilities and minimal road noise.
- Goodyear Eagle GT II in size P285/50R20. The popular all-season choice.
- Goodyear Eagle LS2 in size P275/55R20. Boasted as more refined all season tires.
- Goodyear Assurance CS Fuel Max in size P265/65R18. A low-rolling resistance tire meant to improve fuel efficiency with its tread pattern and hard compound.

No standard 17″ wheels anymore?
GMC must have ponied up more money for this truck.
Goodyear has backed out of most of the no profit OE sales unless they can make money. Two of these three tires are good quality the LS eh.
The Fuel Max really work and they even have decent grip for a low resistance tire.
We put them on a Soap Box Derby car here and ran another on normal radials and it really out ran the other car. I have seen where those who have removed the Max from the Volt make a big dent in the electric range. That is why GM pays more for these.
I guess the tires are gonna be more hard to find for these trucks i’m predicting
Not going to be hard they make a million plus a year. That is one thing with truck the ability to make more is always there. At times it hurts as they can make more than they need at times when sales slow when gas spikes.
That is one thing with Goodyear as they normally keep goods inventories in the states vs. some imported tires that can be hard to find.
If all else fails call the Tire Rack and they can get you one in a day 99% of the time.
The real issue is cost. You will see $1400 tire bills for any 20″ truck tire or more.
Goodyear, number one in racing! EXCELLENT choice, I only trust two brands: Goodyear/Dunlop and Michelin. Pirelli’s are ‘ahhite. Can’t stand all those cheap off brands like Bridgestone, Hankook, Yokohama, etc.
I hate the new silverado design, the only good new thing are that the extended cab have more convinient doors, but overall i prefer the previus models, this new ones sound like a drawback to me
Goodyear Wrangler SRA tires are garbage. If I replace my truck with a new Sierra, GM will have to change the tires to make the sale.
after 3500 miles, on my fifth balancing act, still shake at 70 even if tire is warm. Horrible tire for LTZ vehicle. Beyond disappointed. Flat spots every morning and after ten miles go away, but highway shaking does not. Can actually feel shaking in steering wheel. I guess bushings, shocks and alignment will be ruined over time. Performing as designed they say.
Dealer says they perform within the acceptable range.
