2014 Corvette Stingray Caught Testing With Ferrari 458, McLeran MP4-12C, Porsche 911, Audi R8 V10

A convoy consisting of an Audi R8 V10, Corvette C6 ZR1, Ferrari 458 Italia, McLeran MP4-12C and Porsche 911 Carrera S could be mistaken for an underground road rally. That is until the pair of 2014 C7 Corvette Stingrays are spotted among them, and it becomes clear that it’s actually a bunch of GM engineers having fun. Seriously, benchmark testing a group of exotic cars to size them up with the Corvette Stingray has to have been one of the best days ever for all involved. At least we would think.

Some will say that GM is benchmark testing these exotics for a future ZR1. Considering everyone’s expectations of the seventh-generation Corvette family, that could very well be the case, and then some. Heck, even the outgoing ZR1 is still compared to the likes of the Ferrari, Audi R8 V10, and others — so it’s safe to say that whatever and whenever C7 ZR1 will come into existence, it will punch nearly every European exotic car in the mouth with a red, white, and blue boxing glove.

  1. No doubt the Stingray Z51 could keep up or even match the big guns in performance, and a C7 ZR1 would soundly trump most of them for nearly half the price if not more.
Not to get off subject but I can only imagine what a 2014 Camaro Z/28 can accomplish with the above mentioned cars on the list just for comparisons sake..

  2. Wow the Stingray looks smokin hot next to those vehicles… No question makes many of the vehicles look dated especially the Audi… The McLaren F1 will always look beautiful, so beautiful… McLaeren uaghhhh, having homer simpson moment… Stingray uaghhh, must have Corvette Stingray…

  3. Does Chevrolet really need two Z spec Corvettes? They are both wonderful, and I understand that they take two very different approaches, but could it be possible to find something in the middle and make one Z spec to center around?

  4. I suspect they will make more space and more difference with the two Z cars this time.

The ZR1 will be more a Supercar of brute force like the ZL1 where the Z06 will be more like the Z/28 and be more of a track car.

Even now the ZR1 may have much more power the Z06 will cut lap times very close to the ZR1.

  5. I’m more inclined to think this would be Z06 based on cars present. If the C7 ZR1 is going to have 700+ Hp, I would expect tougher competition. Not that the MP4-12 or 458 are slouches, but the R8 is not really C6 ZR1 competition. A 600hp C7 seems more appropriate competition for this company.

  6. Maybe they are ZR1 and Z06 test mules? Highly unlikely but who knows.

  7. They could just be base lining them for the other cars too bases on the Stingray. It would give them the data they need to know what they need to do.
