The new VXR8 Tourer from Vauxhall is the wagon that the Pontiac G8 Sportwagon could have been. The Tourer is the largest “estate” (English term for wagon) available for sale in the UK, due to the abundance of cargo space. Under the bonnet, you’ll find one of our personal favorite combinations – A 426hp LS3 V8, and a 6-speed manual transmission. There’s also an automatic available, but where’s the fun in that?
Some extra go-fast parts include: launch control, a dual-mode exhaust system, big Brembo brakes, and fancy wheels. In order to monitor all of that fun stuff, there’s a system called EDI (Enhanced Driver Interface) that will tell you the G-forces, power figures, and even the degree of sliding achieved in a casual drift session.
So what’s the catch? This bad boy will run you 49,500 Pounds, which equates to something near $75,700 USD. Is it worth it? Let us know in the comments.

$75,700 worth it?
Even in the old country they will sell few at that price. Nice car but at that price point there are so many other choices.
This will be a rare car even for England with sales less than 150 I would bet.
Also being the largest is not always a good thing in Europe.
Its a very hot car here in Australia if they have any sence they will love it.
CJ, we do love it 😀
VXR8 & Monaro sell well especially when you consider how many/few M5, S6 & E55 AMG are sold. Maloo is rare & there are just a few, although I’m glad it’s here.
Awsome, but why Opel doesn’t propose a version of the VXR8
Not sure why Opel don’t sell the VXR8 & Maloo or even the Monaro when it was on sale. I suppose its a different market place in mainland Europe Opel seem to have a lot of MPVs on sale with Opel selling Combo Tour & Vivaro Tour witch we don’t get in the UK.
I particular like the Top Gear race of a Audi V8 saloon against the Vauxhall Maloo Ute (not much of a race mind the Maloo was way out in front over the finishing line) ;-D
Not a far cry in cost from Cadi’s V-series in cost.
I’ve driven the V-wagon here in Texas, like to see if Pontiac will come out with the cousin.
Rock on Vauxi!
Nice!! Price is a bit fat, I’d have a Caddy V-wagon for that. If they would sell it here for around 45 large, sign me up! (and the Maloo too, sorry couldn’t help that) We had a Vauxhall station wagon when I was a kid a 1962 PA, 2.6 inline 6, a very rare car today.
Nice Buick!
Lady3bglover; Uhhh hate to break the news but in 2009 Pontiac ceased to exist (unfortunately). Pontiac as a brand no longer exists….
V8 wagon used to symbolize the US main stream family car! Still hate minivans.
Amazing what they are able to charge in England isn’t it. We don’t realize how lucky we are in the US.
Cheap powerful cars and cheap gas.
For a General Motors fan news site, I find it odd that this article talked about the car is if it is a Vauxhall when we all know its a HSV. Funny how its called new when it is 5 years old. EDI is a HSV product as well.
Yes we know its a Holden & we are thankful to Holden for designing exceptional cars that can be imported as Vauxhall’s then sold through a strong dealer network that’s probably in every major town, with a lifetime warranty. They are RHD, differ from the German opposition, pack a big V8 with RWD & wear a griffin badge – perfection 🙂
My comment was pointing out how this site always points out where the car originates from. Eg. When talking about the Holden Barina, they always make note that it is a badge engineered Chevy Sonic. When talking about the Chevy SS, they always point out that it is a Holden VF Commodore etc.
It differes over the years, where the Holden Barina came from. Quote from the en.wikipedia.org-article about Holden Barina:
“The Holden Barina is a subcompact automobile sold since 1985 by Holden, the Australian arm of General Motors (GM). Each of the five generations have been badge-engineered versions of GM vehicles: Suzuki Cultus, Opel Corsa, and Daewoo Kalos. Barina is an Australian aboriginal word meaning ‘summit’.”
I know. The current Barina is a Chevy Sonic.
Isn’t it funny, sometimes the more something changes the more it stays the same. Vauxhall made cars back in the day to be imported to Canada, Australia & New Zealand (the commonwealth markets) as Pontiac’s & Holden’s.
Mercedes Benz C300 with V-6 252 hp,no rear view camera nor navigation nor voice control nor infotainment system costs USD 80,000 plus in Taiwan.
Of course with all that fancy stuff and size, “The New VXR8 Tourer From Vauxhall” definitely worth that price tag!
The price is absolutely insane.
I am surprised that a Holden, which is offered elsewhere as a Chevrolet, is being offered as a Vauxhall, the Opel subbrand for the UKoGBaNI.
I thought that GM did end that.
I stand corrected.
Well … consulting the Vauxhall.co.uk website for the VXR range, I find this about the . The VXR8 ClubSport Saloon and Wagon and VXR8 Maloo: “these three models – available by special-order only – are built to your specification.”
Very special…
I think that this means, that no VXR8 are present in any Vauxhall dealer showroom, but are only being shipped after the above mentioned “special order” one by one from “down under” around half the globe from Australia to the United Kingdom.
Thanks , I have recently been searching for information about this subject for a while and yours is the best I’ve discovered till now. However, what concerning the conclusion? Are you positive concerning the source?|What i do not realize is actually how you’re now not actually a lot more smartly-liked than you may be right now. You’re so intelligent.
