Upon a lovely Wednesday evening dinner with the Chevrolet Camaro team, it was revealed that the all-new Z/28 featured a few aliases internally as a way to help keep things a secret to those who were not closely involved in the vehicle’s development. One name was “Project HP” or “Camaro HP,” depending on who you ask. That code name was used among engineers.
For those planning the event, Camaro communications manager (and self-proclaimed “suspension guru”) Monte Doran came up with an even better naming solution. Something that wouldn’t raise the slightest suspicion that it would be the Z/28 rolling onto the stage:
“Steve.”
Turns out Steve’s a bit of a bad ass, though. But whatever you wish to call the 2014 Camaro Z/28, it will continue to pack a 500-horsepower LS7 engine, huge Brembo carbon ceramic brakes, DSSV shocks, and impressive aerodynamics. As Shakespeare wrote: “a rose by any other name would have just as much horsepower.” Or something like that.

In my cube at work and I literally lol’d at “Stoves”. THANKS
Nice one! But the Stove reference is lost upon me… can someone explain?
Code name was in reference to Steve Polychronopolis.
