Chevrolet, GM Foundation Donate 1,350 One World Futbols To Big Brothers Big Sisters Metro Detroit

General Motors and Chevrolet are demonstrating good will with the donation of 1,350 soccer balls to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metropolitan Detroit. But they’re not just soccer balls, they’re next-to-indestructible One World Futbols.

One World Futbols are essentially the tanks of the soccer ball realm. They are designed to outlast and outplay the life spans of hundreds of regular soccer balls, sustaining play in any environment. This is mostly because the ball never needs a pump and never deflates even when punctured, making it ideal for play in all types of terrain such as concrete, blacktop, dirt, rocky fields or grass, and harsh environments, such a high stakes game in the middle of a steel milling factory. It requires no stitching and is designed to have the same rebound characteristics as a traditional soccer ball. It’s the same size and weight as a standard soccer ball, but it can also be used for netball, volleyball, and many other games.

The Futbols will be donated to the Detroit Police Athletic League and 23 Detroit Public Schools. The balls will be distributed beginning April 27 at PAL’s summer soccer kick-off event at Historic Fort Wayne. Over the past three years alone, the GM Foundation has granted nearly $21.5 million to vital nonprofits and cultural institutions within the city of Detroit, including United Way for Southeastern Michigan, Focus: HOPE, Karmanos Cancer Institute, the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, the Detroit Institute of Arts and the Michigan Science Center.

The initiative is part of Chevrolet’s three-year partnership, and is the founding sponsor of the One World Futbol Project. The movement pledges to place 1.5 million One World Futbols with youth in war-stricken zones, refugee camps, disaster areas, and other underprivileged communities around the world.

Though it doesn’t take only the acts of a large company like GM to make an impact. Individuals can support One World Futbol Project through the “Buy One, Give One” program.  With each purchase of a Chevrolet-branded gold ball, another ball is donated to an organization working in a disadvantaged community around the world. Chevrolet fans will even receive $5 off the $39.50 price (plus shipping) when they use the special discount code “ChevyOWFP” upon ordering.

  1. In Detroit they need to also be fire proof and theft proof.

Maybe GM can use this material in tires and interior parts.

Seriously I do hope this program may change a few kids lives as too many have one or no parent in their lives. Until many get a leading guiding force they are often behind the odds of making it. I was lucky to have two parents to drive me and my father had a single mother who worked as hard as two parents to guide him. I hope these kids get more than a soccer ball and get someone that cares enough to push them to do better and help them not take the easy way out like too many do already.

A parent or a parental force is the way out , Big Brothers and Sisters are great people doing good things.
