Ad Break: The Chevrolet Malibu Eco Defies Gravity

The Chevrolet Malibu Eco provides a 2.4L Ecotec motor with eAssist technology — a mild hybrid system that takes some strain off the engine when accelerating from a traffic light. The system also captures energy from the wheels when braking, coasting, and when going downhill, allowing the stored power to be used to push the Malibu Eco up the next incline.

The latest Chevrolet Malibu Eco ad demonstrates just that, albeit in a very CGI sort of way, to help it achieve a rather marginal 37 mpg (by today’s competitive standards).

  1. I like ‘dis ad! It tells a nice story, shows the product, music is good. I like the “Hotwheel” track in it, makes it visually stimulating. Can someone at Cadillac take a look at this ad for some good ideas?

  4. Malibu Eco defies logic. My suggestion? Find new drivetrain, like maybe a full hybrid?

  5. Not impressive. The base Nissan Altima gets 38 mpg highway with it’s continuously variable transmission. The base Honda Accord gets 36.
