It pains us to even post these photos of a Pontiac G8 meeting its unfortunate demise even more than it pains us to watch videos of crash tests. But while we can sleep at night knowing that the crash tested vehicles were totaled for the greater good of motoring and humanity, the passing of this G8 doesn’t serve a higher purpose.
According to those familiar with the story behind the car’s demise, the driver of the G8 was involved in a minor fender-bender, with a flat tire being part of the damage. The G8 didn’t have a spare, so a tow truck was called to the rescue.
As it was being towed to a body shop for repairs, something went wrong and (get this!) the G8 unlatched from the tow truck, causing it to fall down (at speed) and flip over a few times. In other words, a perfectly good and fixable G8 is now totaled for no good reason, and we see it here being trucked to automotive netherland.
At the least, we hope the owner will get a nice payout from the insurance company (or companies?) and get a shiny new Chevy Camaro or perhaps an SS performance sedan.

doesnt hurt too much considering its a base model g8
Ouch! Did you just really post that Lou?
Who cares if its a baser? It’s still a good, fun and stylish RWD car the likes of which are fewer and fewer by the year.
Boy ‘dat sucks. The G8 is one of my favorite GM cars of all time. At least it was an ugly color.
Oops, that’s gotta hurt. Hopefully the company’s insurance will take care of it. The owner deserves another one not a “similar” product as replacement. And who cares if it was a base model, it’s a G8 fer cryin’ out loud.
at least this owner gets to wave goodbye to their car, one g8 owner on another forum took his car to a dealer for an oil change and the dealer “lost” the car, both keys and car could not be found, he was pissed.
yea i did say that..it is indeed a horrible sight to see i love the g8 and in my honest opinion its the best driver’s sedan for the money and arguably one of the best in the world!..im just saying it could have been worse because when i read the title i thought it was a gt or gxp model!! those are the models that will be revered as classics and collectibles yea it sucks big time for that poor guy but im sure he will get a nice check for that mishap and get a nice used g8 gt for about 22-25k and correct the mistake of buying a v6 g8 to begin with!
theres still a few nice ones on ebay for a good price still.
