2014 Camaro ZL1 Spy Shots Show Current Model’s Front Fascia, New Rear

When we inquired with Chevrolet officials as to what sort of updates we could expect in the 2014 Camaro ZL1, the answers gave us the impression that the 580-horsepower supercar would see the styling cues reflective of the new Z/28 and the rest of the 2014 Camaro lineup. But as new spy photos show, found on Camaro5, it appears that the 2014 Camaro ZL1 will only receive a visual update to the design of the rear fascia.

Maintaining the look of the current 2013 model up front has a lot to do with the aerodynamic and cooling properties of the ZL1. It could have been that the new front clip just didn’t provide the proper amount of cooling and/or downforce the ZL1 needs that allowed it to lap the Nürburgring in a blistering seven minutes and 41 seconds.

None of which is to say the ZL1 looks any worse for keeping the existing front end treatment, since we liked things just as they are, anyways.

Also spotted next to the ZL1 was the 2014 Camaro SS 1LE, which receives both front and rear fascia makeovers. And unlike the 2013 model we just reviewed, the 2014 Camaro 1LE is graced with a front hood extractor, which should help with downforce as well as airflow of the 430-horsepower track athlete.

  1. So, I guess Chevy is starting to do quad exhaust tips—at least on the Camaro? *sigh*

    1. The ZL1 has had quad tips, as has the Vette.

  2. Love the new styling in front, no one will see the back through the dust left behind so thats ok; but why would the ZL1 not be updated in front, mind blowing…

  3. I said this a while back on another similar post. Almost exactly what I said.

  4. The Z L1 already has a different nose and for all the work that went into it and for as few as they sell it would not have been a profitable move for only a year or two.

I would not be surprised if a special edition SS shows up with a supercharger and quads.

Exactly where are your contact details though?

  6. Uh…I hate every change on the Z28 front and back. Leave the Zl1 just as it was…It was AWESOME. That’s the car I’ll be buying… new or used.
