2014 Chevrolet Camaro Expected To Bring New Face, LS7 Engine (Updated)

After a successful three years in its current form, the fifth-generation Chevrolet Camaro will see some notable changes for the 2014 model year, and will officially show itself at the 2013 New York International Auto Show next month.

Specific details are scarce, but we do expect touched up front and rear fascias, along with a few interior tweaks. And if we’re to believe a certain leaked VIN card, there’s an LS7 engine in the works as well, which would also suggest the rebirth of a Z28 model.

Stay tuned for more.

Update: Chevrolet has just sent us the following about the Camaro at NYIAS:

The New York International Auto Show will host the world debut of the revamped 2014 Camaro, which advances the design and performance attributes that has made it the most popular sports car under $50,000 for three consecutive years.

  1. So let me get this straight is it a major refresh like a 6th gen Camaro or is it very minor like when we saw the steering shell change

    1. I’m thinking it’s just a refesh of the current car, not a completly new car (that would be 6th gen Camaro).

  2. If they do offer a 2014 LS7 427 Camaro demand will certainly be strong with or without a Z28 moniker. If it does happen, are they simply using the remaining LS7’s that were never used in Corvettes?

  3. I’d really like to see this new interior. Not that the current one is bad, it’s just not impressive, and somewhat boring.

I wonder what the new bumpers are going to look like, will it be very gradual like the 2012 to 2013 Mustang refresh?

  4. Ooooh, so exciting… Very interested to see how things are updated… I am glad that there will be changes but think to much change front and back on this body could be startling to some and turn some away… I love Camero’s and especially this one…

  6. The changes will small. The engine will be the greatest change.

The new car is expected in the fall of 2015 as a 2016 and that is where we will see the major changes.

The 2014 mild upgrades will be to buy them time till the new car arrives and the LS7 will buy some press while the new Mustang is introduced.

The present car is getting long in the tooth as it not only has been in production for a while but we also saw the show car that was 90% turned production 5 years before that. It needs a little clean up to make it fresh to buy time.

  7. I’d be surprised if they don’t put a new V8 or two in it. And I’m thinking, mostly wishful thinking, that it will have an 8-speed auto and possibly even a 7-speed manual. I think the 7-speed manual will only come if the new Corvette engine replaces the current 6.2L, which it should.

  8. I was thinking it will not get the LT1 till gen 6.

  10. ZL1 package with the NA 427! what a track car that would make!

  11. I can agree that there are certain design elements I dislike on the interior: really it’s the center stack with the odd controls and MyLink. It needs to flow around the car better as opposed to a chuck in the middle with the out of place controls at the bottom of the screen-more of a wterfall approach into the center console. Paul, if you’re going to say “just give it a redesign” how is GM supposed to know what the real issue is? I have no issuew with someone taking a stance on areas of problem, but Alex is asking for what you would change not just for Camaro team to do something different…you may hate more.

  12. I heard something about them putting in a twin turbo small block into the ls/lt models which would be kind of cool. Every 5th gen refresh has gotten a horsepower and torque vamp so it makes sence to give it a little boost. The interior I think should be refreshed as well; the leather microfiber isnt really the leather package i would want to see in it; that’s really one of the few things that bugged me about the interior.
