Nobody is really sure, or explaining how it happened, but President Obama’s limousine is on a flat bed after somebody refueled the vehicle with unleaded gasoline instead of the required diesel. The specially-built Presidential limo, the Cadillac One, uses GM’s GMC Topkick/Chevrolet Kodiak chassis.
The President is currently in Israel, on a state visit to meet with the country’s leaders; it’s Obama’s first on-record time in doing so. Reportedly, there’s a replacement limousine on its way from Jordan.
Considering America’s ever-mounting, gargantuan debt, we like to theorize that “The Beast” was probably repo’d.
UPDATE:Â
According to the latest intel, Cadillac One did not break down because the wrong fuel was used — which seemed like a far-fetched reason for the vehicle to end up on a flat bed in the first place. We figured that the vehicle’s handlers would be more intelligent than that, but we gave the benefit of the doubt. Whatever the reason, the vehicle wouldn’t start, and a secondary limousine was brought forth to transport Mr. President upon his arrival.
A Secret Service spokesperson has decreed that “the appropriate gas was put in the car,” which is actually unleaded gasoline, and not diesel fuel, as originally reported. But because of the confidential nature of the vehicle, an actual reason as to why “The Beast” ended up on a flatbed truck was not provided. It was, however, stated that diagnostics are still ongoing.
Contradicting all of that is an Israeli official that stands by the original story that the presidential limousine was filled with the wrong type of fuel. The plot thickens.

You’re backwards. Runs on diesel. Was filled with unleaded gas.
lol!!
This story is not correct. There is NO way that such a “mistake” could have been made. For example, why would the special forces travel with ONE vehicle? They always travel with a backup. And another question. Are we supposed to believe that the car was driven into a gas station and “filled up”? Are we to understand that the C5 Galaxies that carry everything they need doesn’t have fuel for the vehicles? I would think that allowing God-knows-what’s-in-it fuel to be put in the President’s car would be a no-no. And another thing. That “car” actually uses gasoline, not diesel. The fact that it’s built on a Top Kick chassis doesn’t automatically mean it uses diesel.

We published this story with the information given at the time. Even the story you cite admits to publishing the same information. Being that as it may, we’ll update it accordingly. And thank you for the tip!
Oh, BOO HOO HOO. No, really HA HA HA, lol, and the works.
Thanks Richard for raining on our parade. Although you may be right.
If you own a modern Cadillac you will see it on a flatbad at some point. My DeVille, Eldorado and Seville STS all had to be on flatbeds at one point due to quality problems- this is not news!
Driven a new Cadillac lately?
They all drive GREAT, it’s just the quality that is so bad. After I got burned on my last GM car I decided I would never own another unless it had a factory warranty, but what a hassle to have to get rid of a car over that, but I’d have to.
My most “recent” “experience” was watching my neighbor having to flat bed his brand new CTS on New Year’s Eve (in ’08 I think) because of a problem. That tells me nothing has changed. I see 1989 Lexus LS 400’s all over the place still in CA, haven’t seen an ’89 Cad running in years. It’s too bad, but that’s how it is.
Sounds like nobody really knows what happened, except maybe the Secret Service. We aren’t going to get any info out of them unless it’s about hookers.
One question I have is where are the security vehicles around “The Beast”? From what I can see in other pictures on the internet there appears to be some type of law enforcement vehicle in front of the dropbed, and a Chrysler minivan behind it. Just an observation from the images posted on the internet and may not actually be the case. Even though the car appeared to empty I would have thought there would have been more visible protection outside of the car with all the confidential equiptment inside the car.
There are even some versions of the story that have it running on gas and being accidentally filled with diesel.
Its a GM Kodiak people. Think they were all diesel.
(which segues into the next story. Since Gm killed off the Kodiak, what will the Secret Service use to replace these limos?)
Who knows why it broke down. I will just say, ALWAYS be wary of the story you are told if it’s from a GOV source. For political or even face saving reasons it’s just as likely to be a lie or a little “creative misdirection”…
