The first full-scale-production Opel Cascada commenced production last Thursday, February 28th in Gliwice, Poland. The first wanna-be-midsize-but-actually-compact soft-top vert rolled off the line wearing Silver Grey Metallic (Silbergau) paint while cradling GM’s new 1.6 liter turbocharged gasoline engine under the hood.
The Cascada follows the Adam city car and Mokka subcompact crossover as part of Opel’s multi-billion euro product offensive, reaching customers in new segments in which Opel hasn’t historically had a presence. The soft-top Delta-based convertible is also the first convertible to be fully developed and built by Opel; it’s also the sixth Opel model to be built at Gliwice.

Nice to see excellent desirable cars breaking into new segments of the market whilst maintaining older established segments. Hope the product offensive continues for Vauxhall/Opel/Buick.
Here’s hoping this winds up being the next Buick Riviera (with maybe a fixed-roof variant as well)…
Even better looks in motion… regards from GLiwice
Any news on a new Calibra, looking at images posted on Internet & some show a 2dr Astra Coupe whist others show a 2dr Insignia Coupe, not sure if any are genuine so not sure if we will get two Coupes (nicknamed Manta & Calibra), one or none. Also a third Coupe (Camaro/Monaro based with a V8) named Enigma is also around on Internet.
Ps, I think Insignia Coupe is the best looking.
According to Opel strategy manager Thomas Sedran, the Cascada could be introduced as a Buick (perhaps Riviera) in China. It will be produced in Poland and be exported to China in a small scale.
