You may have already noticed that we have a knack for covering The General’s latest trademark filings here at GM Authority. While some of the trademarked vehicle names provide hints about what vehicles may be coming in the future, others are definitely not long for this world. Such is the case with trademark filings that GM was pursuing, but isn’t any more, for whatever reason.
Some of these offer hints abut the product GM could have been planning at one point or another, while others leave us scratching our heads. Either way, use this list for your general edification and amusement, or even to think about what could have been…

Well now I know why they are using Intellalink now for Buick and GMC. I wonder why they did not get Mylink approved for more than Chevy.
Hmm Nomad? I would think they would keep this just to retain the rights.
Scott, I believe it wasn’t a matter of getting MyLink approved for Buick or GMC, but rather a conscious separation of the Chevrolet and Buick/GMC brands… Like CUE for Cadillac.
In addition, as far as I understand it, applicants can no longer “squat” on trademarks by registering them “for protection”. Instead, they need to prove to the USPTO that the trademarks being applied for will be used in an actual real-world product. Hence, the decision to no longer pursue the Nomad TM.
Say it ain’t so Nomad!!! Where is my Code 130R shooting brake???

Anthem and Granite would have also been badass monikers, hope they pick those up out the bin again – only if they can build vehicles worthy of the names though.
Bengal and Anthem are my favorites…nice take on this
*wonders what a Cadillac CTX would have looked like*
Interesting Cascade is very close to Cascada, Vauxhall & Opel’s new convertible.
My guess: cascade is a Buick convertible and Graphyte was supposed to be a gmc. CTX is interesting, sounds like a mix of CTS and SRX, maybe it was considered as the name for the CTS wagon. If that’s the case, I like CTX better than CTS wagon.
Could the hydracel have been a hydrogen fuel cell vehicle GM planned on putting into production?
I remember the Nomad of the 1950s, which was the wagon version of the Chevy Bel Air. BTW, is “Bel Air” still registered?
It’s not… but GM wanted to register it back in August of 2012. Something fell through.
Anthem would be a good name for a Cadillac presidential limo, Anthem-2012, Anthem-2016 etc.
I wonder what the Chicane was going to be? I like the name Anthem aswell… hmm
Is berlinetta copyrighted or trademarked?
