Community Question: Should Callaway Build The AeroWagon Corvette C7 Stingray Shooting Brake?

Only the zaniest of car enthusiasts would tell you that shooting brakes are awesome. Yours truly falls into that category. So when the Callaway AeroWagon broke cover last week — an after-market shooting brake variant of the all-new 2014 Chevrolet Corvette C7 Stingray — it was met with unbridled joy, and dogmatic hatred. Regardless what camp you fall in, there’s no doubt that the unorthodox modification to the Corvette body style garnered tons of attention in a very short time. And that’s a good thing, because if the demand is there, Callaway says it will build the utilitarian Corvette.

We’re behind the idea of a C7 shooting brake. But are you? Take our poll, and opine in the comment section below.

  2. With only 3 votes so far it’s a 1/3 to 2/3’s vote for it. I fall into the YES!!! category. The addition matches the edginess of the new design in its appearance.

  3. With the way the roof/rear hatch tapper off creating the rear ‘hips’ the shooting brake kit just doesn’t blend very well. I like the idea, but the execution is forced to be awkward.
Like I said in the other article about this Callaway kit, i’d rather put that $15000 elsewhere into the car.

  4. I really want to see if Callaway could produce a PS of the proposed rear. That would pretty much seal the deal.

Also, the silver photo looks better than the above one. The rest of the roof isn’t shown in that picture and it makes roof line appear to slope too sharply to the rear.

  5. Sigh, why in the world would someone want to do that to a Corvette? Does it seat four? If not, what’s the point? And if it did, what would be the point of that? For crying out loud, Callaway, you once built the 254 MPH Sledgehammer. Now… this???

  6. If Kirk Bennion thinks it’s a good idea, then ok 🙂

  7. BMW had a wagonette version of their M3. Saw one of the first ones built before it had even left the factory in South Carolina. It got the thumbs down from me then and the market did the same.

I do predict some conversions based on the new Corvette. WCC style.

  8. Sure, I want to spend 15k above the cost of the car to turn it into that, Calloway should have their business license revoked and all their tools confiscated. Whats next 4WD? Or better yet the economy level Corvette garbage I read about sporting a 5.2 liter and cloth seats. Shooting brake, more like give me a break. Leave it alone already, cant you see what GM already did to it.

  9. Yes, and Chevy should build a Code 130r shooting brake for those who can’t reach the Corvette price point.
