Car Clash: First-Gen Camaro vs. Fifth-Gen Camaro

For today’s Car Clash, we thought we’d mix it up a bit, so instead of comparing one moniker to another, we thought it interesting to pit a current model with its predecessor. In this case, the first-generation Chevrolet Camaro against the current fifth-gen model.
With the first generation, we have a certain vintage charm and simplicity that is hard to find in anything offered today. But in the fifth-generation Camaro, we’ve got a near-perfect blend of new-age performance technology in a retro-inspired body.
In our eyes, it’s a draw. So we’re turning to you for the tie-breaker. Does the new Camaro eclipse the original? Or is the first-generation model irreplaceable?
I have always loved The Camaro. I was born in the early 70’s and by the time I was old enough to buy my first car I could not afford a 69 Z/28 my favorite car. So had to settle for a beat up 1989 Z/28 flash forward to 2012 and the 5th gen is out for over two years But I still could not afford a 69 in excellent condition, however I fell in love with the 5th gen and I could actually walk into the chevy dealer and drive home in a new one. And I did a Black 2LT RS. It is a compromise I love the retro look with the fusion of modern technology it’s the best of both worlds for people like me who lust after the original but are unable to obtain one. It’s a shame Pontiac is dead for a retro Trans Am would also be a Beautiful sight . But my love for the original will always remain. “You can’t always get what you want, but if you try sometime you might find you get what you need”. The Rolling Stones How true is that!
A Camaro based Monaro would be nice & would certainly be welcomed in Australia, New Zealand & Britain.
