From the looks of it, the driver of this totaled Corvette Z06 should have lost his head upon slamming into a moving van. But, thankfully, he managed to leave the scene with minor injuries, which were treated at a nearby hospital. The collision happened on the southbound 405 Freeway, at LA’s Sepulveda Pass, near Getty Center Drive around 11:10 pm last Moday, according KABC News.
To even get to the driver, first responders had to lift the van up and off the mangled Corvette. The driver had reportedly ducked at the last instant, which is most likely what kept his head on his shoulders. An investigation is reported to be ongoing.

I’d like to see a picture of this guy. I bet you he is extremely short. 🙂
Wow. Wonder if there was fog. I used to dry through there everyday and there are no blind corners or anything like that. There is really nothing in that stretch except GCD for quite a few miles. Always good to hear no one was terribly hurt or lost their lives. Then I don’t feel bad say, OMG, that poor car!! So sad.
Guess why European tractor trailers have underride protection at the rear and sides. For decades.
Time for the US to get with that action and save lives
That’s my buddy Dirk who collects cars especially Alfa Romeos. He just sold his DINO and against my advise bought this Z-06. No fog, no cell phone or texting. Dirk is a habitual lane-changer. In this case his lane slowed so, as he so often does, he switched to the lane to his right only to meet with a moving van with a dead electrical system…NO LIGHTS. He had just enough time to put his head between his legs to kiss his ass goodbye and that’s what saved him. He suffered only minor scratches and contusions.
Thank God Dirk survived this accident as I wouldn’t have ever had the opportunity to meet this great car enthusiast.Sincerely,Stev Rodriguez
