2014 Chevy Camaro Leaked Ahead Of New York Auto Show Debut

Joining this week’s series of General Motors’ leaks (like the 2014 CTS) is the 2014 Camaro. The refreshed sports car that was initially teased by Chevrolet itself just last week appeared on Kelly and Michael this morning.

As you can see from the (rather small, and only available) photo, the 2014 Camaro gets a new front fascia, while a new rear fascia is also in store; overall the upgraded model sits wider, lower, and has a more contemporary appearance.

2014 Camaro Front Fascia

The revised front fascia sports a wide lower opening, a narrower upper opening, and updated “halo ring” HID headlamps that are part of the Camaro RS package. In addition, a new functional hood vent on the Camaro SS assists in reducing aerodynamic lift.

2014 Camaro Rear Fascia

In the rear, the 2014 Camaro gets a new decklid, thinner horizontal LED taillamps, and a more aggressive rear diffuser.

2014 Camaro Powertrain Lineup

It seems that the engine lineup for the 2014 Camaro is staying the same in offering the following powerplant choices:

  • 323 horsepower (241 kW) V6 LFX powering the LS coupe, LT coupe and convertible
  • 426 horsepower (318 kW) V8 LS3 powering the SS coupe and convertible
  • 580 horsepower (432 kW) supercharged V8 powering the ZL1 coupe and convertible

Stay tuned to GM Authority as we find more photos of the refreshed Camaro.

Update: here’s the SS model from Kelly and Michael. It’s wearing wheels from the 2013 Dusk edition Camaro:

  7. Hard to really say what the front looks like, but the rear seems to have lost a lot of character. The thing on the hood looks like it belongs on a medium duty truck. Pathetic.

    1. Front lost a lot of character too, losing the round fog-light makes the lower fascia look more generic like a Toyota Corrolla. The smaller you make the grill, the less aggressive it looks, and more feminine. That chrome strip reminds me of a 1983 “Berlinetta” for some reason (a girl’s car).
The rear lights look like they are off a Kia sedan or something- they lost all character. What happened to the new Chevy “design direction” of two lights on either side? The Malibu blows this back end away- IT has character. Thank God they haven’t screwed up the Challenger yet. Where did they source that hood scoop, JC Whitney or Pep Boys?

  9. I am glad to see them move to a more modern effect. I think we may have some hints at the future here with the 6 gen. Not so much that this is setting what the car will look like but the fact it may be a little less retro. To be sure it will look like a Camaro but not like any one specific year.

With the Vette as here with this hood I expect the functional aero will come more into play with more Chevys. I have had a Pontiac with a functional hood vent and I can tell you it really helps in cooling and stability. It also make a hell of a bug deflector LOL!

I am in the market for one, but not if the rear end looks this bad. Damn GM dropped the ball on the refresh.

  13. 20 COPOS for sale starting at 12:00 Noon tomorrow 3/28/13. Reservations taken at GM Directly. No Vins, No Serial Numbers. Three engine versions:
    1) 350 CI 325 HP
    2) 396 Ci 375 HP
    3) 427 Ci 425 HP.

For racing only. Not street legal. Who wants one? Not me. BUT…it does put a spotlight on ONE FACT; COPO still exists, and that may mean that they MAY do this to the Corvette Stingray as well. Limited Edition to 20? Now that part I like. I really mean it, GM needs to wake up and put some SERIOUS GT500 Killing Horsepower under the hood. They’ve been second place for a long time, and are threatened now by CHRYSLER! Hello?
