2014 Chevrolet Camaro: What Are You Hoping The Refresh Will Bring?

When it comes to the current 2010-2013 model year Chevrolet Camaro, there are a few criticisms. It’s too heavy, some say. Others say the interior could use some livening up, or that the exterior design is too flashy. But there’s a refreshed Camaro on the horizon, and with it should be several improvements over the current model.

So, with that in mind, we are now left curious as to what sort of upgrades we will find in the 2014 Camaro. And if we were to hope for anything, it would be to see some weight reduction. Though some of you may wish for cleaner looks, or perhaps more power. Let us know in the comments below and by filling out our latest Community Question poll as to just what you think would be the single most important improvement that the restyled Camaro could bring to the table.

  1. I wouldn’t mind seeing some Code 130R influence in the headlights. Not that small, however, along the same lines. Probably too much to hope for from a refresh though. I am unbothered by the interior.

  2. I would not get too worked up as this will be a mild refresh only.

We will not see a lot of weight lost or major interior changes.

You will see more power and possibly a new model. Some light trim may be changed with new colors and wheels.

I would not be surprised to see the ZL1 spoilers offered on some models as an option like the ZR1 parts are offered on the Z06.

With the new car coming there is not going to be any great investment in this car. Just look at the mild refresh of the Cruze as it soon too will be replaced so don’t get too worked up.

The Code 130 R nose is the old GM and the center bar is going away on the cars. I suspect the idea of the car is all that may make production as the show car carried the old Chevy family nose and not the new nose. Also the show car will be pretty old by the time the sub Alpha ever hits the market.

I Expect a cleaner looking grill and some other light changed to the bumpers and other easy bolt on. The major changes are just too expensive for the Zeta to have for only 2 years.

  3. The only fix the Camaro needs is softening the design flaw of the quarter-panel that jets out just past the door, putting it in a different light-plain making the paint look mismatched. I hope they get rid of the 3 “debossed” stripes that draw your eye to it- make that smooth. I love the size and weight of this car, it makes the Mustang look small & girly.

  4. I have a feeling that the tail lights will finally ditch the ugly chrome rings in favor for the euro spec tail lights..they would match the supposed sleeker front end with more of a Zl1 look for the SS/1LE models . ( I hope ) Also the interior, I suspect new seats Influenced by the C7 seats, a color HUD like the SS sedan and C7 and color screen in between a newly designed speedo/tach unit.
For a Surprise I can only wish for the introduction of a Z/28 with the new Twin turbo V6! but I think it would be a difficult fit with the 1LE or the ZL1 As historically the original Z/28 was Design for Trans Am racing, and the 1LE is a track pack and the ZL1 is the Lord of the “small vicious mammals that eats mustangs” Could Chevy ditch the 2LT V6 in favor for a Z/28 if pricing is a concern? have it slotted under the SS as the top of the line V6? and for a final wish PLEASE ADD Parking sensors for the front end…….

  5. It needs to loose weight for starters. Modernize the interior to a theme in line with the new Vette, add a little more side glass area so it isn’t like being in a gun turret. Then less chunky looking rear fenders. But these are just my opinion, so whatever.

  6. What? Too flashy? That’s funny… sadly I voted for looks just cause Che y hasn’t updated them since 2009!!!!???? Crazy same for the Silverado far behind of refreshments! But yeah glad to see that weird nasty standard grille leaving

  7. Interior for sure, and maybe a smaller V8 with a super charger.

  9. It’s not going to lose weight. That shouldn’t even have been a choice.

The biggest thing I’m hoping for is that they don’t mess up the looks too much.
The car is gorgeous just how it is.
I haven’t been impressed with some of GM’s latest stuff and I’m worried that the designers who’ve been turning out the latest stuff will get their hands on the Camaro and ruin it.

All the car needs is more power and better handling.

Do you know that a sports car is? Has anyone ever told you that weight is the enemy?

  10. I am happy to see the new GM updating the new products every few years. The Camaro won’t loose weight or be radically different but I am hoping for an LT1, LS7 and a refreshed look with some new interior touches. I’d love to see a Z28 with an LS7 or twin turbo 6

  12. I think it’s not going to be an overhaul. Not for another 4 years, I suspect, at which point it’ll shift to the alpha platform (the Caddy ATS). Then it’ll likely also be powered by a standard turbo 4 (260hp) or the recently unveiled twin turbo 6 (420hp; for the SS model). BUT it would be cool if they did this now, while the alpha platform is new…

My wish is better visibility. It currently looks and feels like a tank, not a nimble sports car. The little Toyota fr-s/whatever-they-call-it is super agile and light for the same price point. I think Chevy would be best suited between the FR-S and the camaro in terms of size and power.

    1. The V6 Camaro I agree with you is not a nimble car. it’s not a pig either but you have to learn it’s limits to exploit them. I know I have one.. however the 1LE and the ZL1 are very capable track cars with the correct amount of power . The FR-S and BRZ are light nimble go carts that can carve corners but lack the power to make their light weight shine. The V6 Camaro can have the 1LE suspension and tire package and Zl1 brakes installed if you got the extra cash. equipped with it can give the Toybaru twins a serious challenge in the corners and eat them on the straights. But it will cost you way more…

  13. I’m not sure if it’s possible on a minor overhaul to add more side-glass so it isn’t so dark in there and visibility is improved, but if so this would be a great start. It would also get rid of the feeling I always have when looking at a Camaro that someone took off the roof, chopped out a couple of inches, then welded it back on. Also the new V8, 7-speed manual and an 8-speed automatic would be nice.

  14. I would like to see a better sound system, up date interior less road noise. new rear tail
lights. new wheels on SS . rs light on all models. no mail box slot on SS model.
Fog lights that turn on and off. less weight. more rumble , and get rid of those large
muflers. That good for a starter.
