2014 Chevrolet Camaro SS Headlight Design Leaked? (Updated: It’s Fake)

Just yesterday, Chevrolet released its first teaser photo of the restyled 2014 Chevrolet Camaro that will be revealed next week at the 2013 New York International Auto Show. There wasn’t much to it, just the showing of a narrower grille with a chrome accent on the upper part. But today, we get a better idea of what to expect with the Camaro’s new front fascia thanks to this new photo.

With the photo (found on Facebook) we notice that the front headlamps will take a more rectangular approach than before, accompanied by a new LED design running from the bottom of the fixture and swooping upwards to the outside edges. In effect, the “angel eye” headlamp design seems to have been replaced.

However, this particular photo was not found on any official General Motors channels. And Chevrolet Camaro spokesmaster Monte Doran told us on record that “the real car looks nothing like that. Which is to say it looks a lot better than that.”

So there you have it, kids. It’s not real. Breathe that wonderful sigh of relief.

      1. Nope. It could very well be a rendering. We’ve updated the story accordingly.

  3. It’s difficult to tell from a teaser photo, but it looks somewhat less “aggressive,” “mean,” and “menacing” to me than the current angel eyes. At least this looks distinctive and doesn’t appear to have the same “bedazzled” LED look of most everything else these days — fingers crossed that it’s a light pipe instead of individual LEDs.

Hopefully the chrome strip indicates a focus on more premium materials (especially on the interior).

  4. not a fan of the chrome strip, even the chrome around the current camaro’s tailights are odd. it’d look much better in black. also as big of a car that the camaro is, a very narrow grill might just look akward, if it helps aero then it gets some points back though.

  7. I’m guessing it’s a fake. The gap where the hood starts is in the wrong place. That gap in the current car is much farther from the ‘slot’ and I doubt they would change the hood that much. Also, the other photo that doesn’t show the headlights doesn’t show the gap there either.

  13. Don’t think this should be shown. This is like the Car & Driver rendering, again. If it’s not an Official GM release, who cares. Facebook, now there is a reliable source.
