We’re roughly two days away from the live unveiling of the 2014 Cadillac CTS at the New York International Auto Show, but a few photos of Caddy’s upcoming midsize luxury sedan have already leaked their way online.
Form the looks of it, the all-new Alpha-based CTS features a very elegant yet aggressive design that starts with the assertive hood and prominent Cadillac front fascia sporting two horizontal bars spanning the width of the grille. The grille is complemented by the jewel headlights that appear to be shorter than those found on the ATS, while vertical LED light strips run downward along the front fascia.
The rear end sports the familiar design found on the XTS and ATS, with vertically-running LED tail lamps and a horizontal LED center-mounted brake light. In addition, there seems to be an intricate yet noticeable shoulder line running into the deck lid. In effect, the spy shots of the uncovered CTS were spot on.
The one shot of the cabin shows that the rich design found on the ATS and XTS is carried over to the CTS, with what looks to be high-quality leathers, suede, wood, and stitching applied in a rich and luxurious design.
As far as powertrain goes, the all-new 2014 CTS will offer the following three engine choices:
- 2.0 liter turbo four cylinder (LTG) making roughly 270 horsepower
- 3.6 liter naturally-aspirated six cylinder (LFX) making roughly 330 horsepower
- 3.6 liter twin turbo six cylinder (LF3) making 420 horsepower mated to GM’s first-ever eight-speed automatic transmission
The high-performing CTS-V will reach the market sometime in 2014 as a 2015 model year vehicle, and will probably be powered by a force-inducted V8 (unconfirmed). We can’t wait to see the whole thing come Tuesday.
Update: one day after this article was published, USA Today leaked even more photos of the 2014 CTS. Here they are:

It will be interesting as the car will be much more aggressive than most expected in styling.
The hood has a Benz sculpted take on it but still make no doubt that it is a Cadillac.
Just wait for the V series to break out.
Yea if this CTS looks the way it does with what i think looks like aggressive styling without trying too hard than imagine what the V version will look like, because the styling on that will undoubtedly be even MORE aggressive simply BECAUSE its the main V-series car. Hot damn, i can hardly stand the wait for the v series variant now…looking forward to seeing the styling on the v-series variant for the ATS also.
When i saw it for the first time earlier today i also thought the same thing about the hood styling too, resembling that of the hood of the new Benz’s…more specifically in my opinion the hood appearance of the new CLA.
If this is Cadillac’s new world-class school of design…sign me up for one!
Nice love the front faciale.. Nice stiched interior nice rich color..
That hood is amazing!
Still not fond of the back end. Nevertheless, my distaste of the rear is overcome by the beautiful front. The “Art and Science” with the rounded edges looks absolutely beautiful.
As Erik said, the interior has a beautiful rich theme, almost a saddle colored tan, and the craftsmanship is top notch. Can’t wait for the whole thing.
My feelings exactly, the rear end looks very tame/conservative compared to the front. Can’t wait to see the whole car, but I’d say it doesn’t suck! I was worried about the photos from a month ago, but dang that traditional Cadillac “eggcrate” grille and Cadillac “powerdome” hood looks mighty strong and unique. Me likes the Ciel inspired wheels as well. You won’t mistake this car for anything else. Best of all, it’s a Cadillac!
Is it me or am I the only one that thinks that Cadillac should’ve pasted the taillights of the ELR onto the CTS. Don’t get me wrong I love the overall design of the 3rd Gen CTS .When you look at it from the front end then down to the rear of the car it just doesn’t match, a tad bit subdued if you ask me I just strongly believe that caddy missed the mark with the tail lights by not giving it the ELR’s rear end that would’ve completed the overall aggressive look of the car I’m not being picky It would’ve been SICK……KUDOS GM that’s a bad ass CTS!!!!
THAT’S HOT!!!!!!
This is so incredibly beautiful. I was kinda beginning to loose faith in Cadillac, but WOW. Very clean and art deco, but at the same time highly sculpted and aggressive. Color me impressed.
Art deco? In 2013?
It always a bit tough to tell from just seeing parts of a car, but it looks like it will be beautiful, aggressive and cool, in some combination. This is a relief, as some earlier reports and spy shots seemed to indicate that it would be really watered down. Can’t wait to see the whole car!
LOVE IT AMAZING !!!!
Cadillac DID IT RIGHT !!!!
Cadillac just keeps getting better. This is a beautiful car. I love how aggressive the front is. The detailing in the rear as well. It has a slight Malibu/Regal like curve to the trunk lid but this I believe looks way better. The detail in the door panel shot looks to be spot on as well. I think they really raised the bar here with the Art and Science theme on this one.
NICE CAR! 🙂
Like the second gen. At its time……this car will be a show stopper ! Look at that hood ! American luxury is back ! With lightning in its veins !!!! 🙂
HOT DAMN!! Wow that looks good. I was kinda expecting there to be leaked images out a day or two before the reveal and sure enough! Wow, this looks better then i thought it would based on what i had seen in the leaked photos of the front and back end a few weeks back. The lines and creases in the hood remind me of the hood on the new Benz CLA…except i’m not crazy about them on the Benz, but here i think they look awesome. Makes the CTS look more muscular. The back end i’ve come to like since seeing a few ATS’s in my area. The back end has grown on me to the point that i’ve come to like the ATS’s ass quite a bit now actually. The especially awesome part i think is that the front end and hood area with its creases and lines (at least whats shown in the photo) already looks quite aggressive to me…so i cant even IMAGINE what they’re going to do differently to the V version because the current one is styled more aggressively than the standard cts…and THIS is the next STANDARD cts…so imagine what the styling on the V IS GOING TO LOOK LIKE! Damn i didnt think i could look forward to the next-gen ctsv any more than i was, but if this gives ANY clue to what it may look like…wow, yea i’m definitely looking forward to it even more now! The LED strips in the headlights also look reeeeeally sweet and the one photo of the door trim looks really good. The back end with the center line seems very reminiscent or rather, seems strongly influenced by, at least in my opinion, the back end of the Sixteen concept from a few years back. In my mind there’s only motor that should go in this…the LF3. One last thing, this may sound like a weird parallel that i’m noticing, but, am i the only one that thinks the grill shape and the outer edges of the grill leading to those dominant outer-most hood creases resemble that of the new 2014 Mazda 6?
And here I was worried about my beloved CTS the front end is the highlight of the car I’m loving the hood the rear end of the vehicle is where they fell asleep aside from that this car looks like its going to be a show stopper
Strongly influenced by the Ciel. Love it
this and the new SS just looks too great!!
The evolved headlight design is a welcome surprise, as is the sculpting on the hood (beautiful). The new grill shape is bold and distinctive as well. From what I’ve seen of the rear, it doesn’t seem to match up with the front well, and I wonder too if the sides will have enough creases. I also wonder what the plastic cutouts will look like in the real world and on a different colored car. But, so far so good.
Cadillac comin back strong… if this isnt an onslaught of new cars from gm i don’t know what is. Lovin that hood and front end from the cts! Germans be afraid very very afraid!
More proof you can accomplish great things with a government bailout. To bad the government has to take a loss on a winner eh?
How is it all the new products from General Motors are raising everything but General Motors stock prices?
@John In regards to a loss — it depends on who you ask. On a purely financial basis (even though the Treasury hasn’t divested all of its shares yet), it may be a loss. But considering that there wouldn’t be an American auto industry with the bailout, or that the overall economy would be pressed into an even further recession (depression?), I’m not convinced that “loss” is the right word. But outside of all that, I’m not sure it matters where the bailout came from… money is money — right?
As for GM’s stock price, I’m sure it all has to do with two things:
1. Uncertainty until a complete exit by the UST, and
2. Uncertainty in GM’s ability to increase profits while VW and Toyota earn nearly twice as much on similar global sales volumes.
Both are being addressed; the first by the government, and the second by several initiatives included but not limited to platform consolidation, great focus on luxury vehicles, and a push to boost sales volume globally. In fact, this all-new CTS should take care of the luxury vehicles initiative.
Alex, the bailout was a good thing, no question about it. And as soon as the government dumps it’s shares the price will skyrocket.
General Motors sells as many units in China as in the United States however what has the Chinese investment added to the Corporations botton line? 7%? 9%?
God damn I think my dick just exploded other than that I’d say BMW beware, Cadillac is back and it’s better than ever.
The interior of this car appears to be fantastic and not just by GM’s standard. Finally a no holds bar competitor that marketing doesn’t have to tell us is the Standard of the World when it isn’t. Exterior/Interior Styling and powertrain are more modern and thrilling than both ATS or XTS. Lets hope that riding on Alpha also keeps the weight in check!
Seeing the CTS and ELR interior gets me so excited for Escalade 4.0. Imagine ATS with this front end treatment. Wow!
Well looks like I need tto keep my 03 running a few more years so I can save up for one of these new lacs. Damn I try to convince myself to just maintain my 03 for life but these r beautiful
This is why Lincoln will never be great again G.M. spent tons of money to turn Cadillac around and Ford will not
I love this!! I see alot of the Ciel, and I want one!
Amazing how a few pictures turn comments from absolute hatred, I will NEVER buy another Cadillac, etc…..into LOVE the Car! When the first 2 spy shots were released CTS owners went crazy in their disdain for the design.
