It’s a bit of a shame that the 2014 Cadillac CTS couldn’t keep itself from being leaked. Just yesterday, several images of the D/E-segment Cadillac found themselves online thanks to some Flickr account. Today, the leak comes from USA Today, who are obviously not keen on making any friends. Regardless, it doesn’t change the fact that the third-generation Cadillac CTS is nothing short of gorgeous.
We see a lot of Ciel Concept in the front fascia, while the backside strikes us as a bit more tame. Call it a big ATS if you want, because it more or less is when considering the similar looks of the two sedans, the fact that they share the same platform, and that currently two out of the three engines that the CTS will offer (the 2.0L turbo I4 LTG and 3.6L naturally aspirated V6 LFX) are also found in the ATS. The range-topping CTS, what USA Today is calling the V-Sport, will feature the new LF3 twin-turbo V6 engine with 420 horsepower and Aisin-sourced eight-speed automatic transmission that can shift in 0.3 seconds.
We will be on-site tomorrow to attend to CTS’ official unveiling in New York, and will report back with a plethora of additional information, as well as our own photos of the car. In the meantime, let us know your take on the new CTS’ look in the comments below.

Motorauthority.com has leakd more of.the CTS, Cadillac did good job love the look
Gorgeous
I like it, aside from the headlights (a little too elongated for my taste, but I’m sure they’ll grow on me). The V-sport sounds like an appearance and suspension package, kind of like the M-Sport packages on BMWs.
Love it, Love it, Love it. Did I say Love it? More gorgeous than I imagined, even the rear end which a lot of people were worried about looks good and not that bland.
It’s so much like the Ciel concept especially from its front and side profile 🙂
Both classy and cool. Beautiful car! It will stand out from the crowd, and for all the right reasons.
VERY nice car….like it even better than I thought I would….similar to ATS but nicer in a number of ways for sure…the dash is very sharp and I like the saddle color of leather….I think the fogs and options we see are not what we would get on base..as in ATS..unless Cadillac added in the much-needed fogs and the like 🙂
Actually, I think those light pipes underneath the headlights ARE the fogs.
A fog light need not have to look like an ugly pimple.
Now that is one NICE car. if only I had the $.
R.I.P. Lincoln Motor Company
1917 – 2013
Seriously, what’s the point of the MKZ when GM launches a car like this?
But then again, I don’t think anyone at Cadillac gives a care about Lincoln anyway. Right now, this car is aiming squarely at the top of the mid-size lux segment and nothing in those photos says anything else but the best of what GM has built to date.
How dare you say Lincoln is dead in 2013 – you sir are very irresponsible. (They won’t be dead until 2014!)
You Lincoln haters all laugh thinking they are dead, wait until you see the Lincoln for 2014- WHO is laughing now! http://www.flickr.com/photos/87601914@N00/5086318538/
Doh!
Absolutely beautiful. Cadillac is showing it can be a leader in segments that it wasn’t even considered in no less than 2 years ago. The new CTS, the ATS, and the rest of its product portfolio are becoming extremely competitive.
Grawdaddy- The problem with Lincoln is that they don’t seem to have competition, not does Lincoln strive to compete. They seem to just make cars with no apparent class. Quite seriously, what do the MKZ, MKX, MKT, and MKS compete against?
“The problem with Lincoln is that they don’t seem to have competition”
Highly disagree. The competitors are there and we all know who they are. Those competitors are all the other mainstream luxury brand; and they are much better organized and have better selling products.
“not does Lincoln strive to compete.”
Well Lincoln should strive to compete. Why the hell bother making cars if they aren’t competitive with luxury brands? Kinda defeatist if you ask me.
“They seem to just make cars with no apparent class. Quite seriously, what do the MKZ, MKX, MKT, and MKS compete against?”
I’m not defending Lincoln or FoMoCo’s product development team. How I suss it out in my head goes as so:
MKZ – mid size
MKS – large
MKX – mid size CO/SUV
MKT – large CO/SUV
This also aligns nicely with other mainstream luxury cars as well. Consider Lexus and MB:
Lexus
GS – mid-size
LS – large
GX – mid size CO/SUV
LX – large CO/SUV
MB
E class – mid-size
S class – large
M class – mid size CO/SUV
GL class – large CO/SUV
It all fits with existing cars sold by other luxury brands. It’s just that Lincoln isn’t doing nearly enough to stay relevant and it’s only going to hurt them with each new product launch.
This CTS is just another grain of salt in Lincoln’s open wound.
It’s AMAZING the job that Cadillac has done with the new CTS, I believe it doesn’t look like an ATS at all. It looks mature, evolved, modern and I didn’t think the CTS could get any better and quite frankly I was a bit worried when I saw the undisgised spy shots as i’ve been an inconditional CTS lover since it’s introduction.
It’s definitely in my top 3 of the best looking Cadillac EVER made and it hits the top spot as the most beautiful modern day Cadillac.
I only have three words for this car: Fab U Lous! Here’s what makes this a complete HOME RUN: Its size, it’s not dinky small, the Ciel influence making it UNIQUE, the front end is traditional Cadillac, yet unique from the ATS (unlike the Lexus’s that all look alike with that big-mouth bass look), & RWD. (The front has a bunch of different cut-outs by the grille depending on the picture, sometimes two, sometimes one, sometimes none- I wonder which one is the real one.) Best of all, it’s a Cadillac!
So we get a big ATS to replace the CTS? I’m not complaining. Looks pretty regal. Definitely a car that gives off the aura of “making an entrance”. I wish the CTS’s stretched and flared fenders had made the transition, but still, a very handsome car indeed.
I like the front sections a lot, the rear a little less. The only thing I would change would be to bring the tops of the tail lamps up to the top of the trunk. That’s more “Cadillac” than the almost Bently-like ones that sit there now. Maybe it’s just the 2-D image though..perhaps seeing it in person will change my mind. It’s a winner, though. Well done.
the design is more conservative than what I was expecting. It’s nice but for me doesn’t have the same wow as the last two generations. I might change my mind once I see a video. is it just me or does the front end look a little like the c series?
Most of you won’t like this, but I think it looks extremely boring from a couple of angles. Take the photo at the top of this page for example; you remove the lighting (which is just too much for my tastes), and what have you really got left to get excited about?
I was really impressed with the closeups, so maybe seeing it in person will change my opinion.
You might change you mind if there are any press shots not taken from inside a studio…or the CTS in another colour.
Very true. I was expecting something a little more aggressive, especially after seeing the leaked hood and grill images, and hearing news of the twin turbo V6, but it is very handsome. I guess “grown-up” sums it up well. And I do like it so far, especially after staring at the photos a little longer, I was just hoping it would blow me away like the previous CTS and CTS coupe did..
Maybe that’s the thing. Here’s Art and Science now in it’s 10th year. If you look at a first gen CTS, you’d think GM must have been crazy to make something that…..well, weird.
Nevertheless, A&S has had 10 years I would agree that on the third gen CTS, it looks more mature. It’s still just as bold as the first gen, but it doesn’t look alien like the first gen. The maturity of it’s design comes from, I feel, the same way the second gen CTS was a softening of the first. All this softening of A&S made the cars look mature and more of a serious player.
That’s a good point. The first CTS, as eye-dropping as it was when it was first introduced, hasn’t aged all that well, either. i don’t think this one is going to have that problem.
Love that C pillar. Very classic American. Do hope they do a wagon so I can buy one!
Cadillac is really becoming world class, as they should be. Pure American luxury, design, and craftsmanship. Coming from an ex-BMW fanboy. I love Cadillac since the day they came with the 2nd generation CTS, I actually switched to Cadillac when the BMW M5 got beaten by the Cadillac CTS-V.
after seeing this im salivating for the flagship!!!..art and science seems to get better with every design! flawless victory
Hmmm…. interior is beautiful, but the exterior looks like a Cylon had sex with a Mercedes. And I don’t mean that in a good way. Between this and the new LaCrosse, all just further evidence of GM’s drift to/highjacking by foreign (i.e. unattractive) influences. And, as I feel compelled to continually reiterate, I love GM and have never driven anything but. But their hold on my loyalty is being stretched thin, at least as far as styling is concerned. Still trust GM quality over anyones, but damn I’ve gotta like the look of it!
every lincoln is UGLY and is GARBAGE Cadillac WINS the luxury car battle hands down
Lincoln started in 1917 and will die in 2014. 97 years, hmm, same as the MEDIAN age of their buyers, what a coincidence.
ooh hell, I’ve already proposed to my beloved C7 (Stingray), and now this sexy, sophisticated hot babe comes into my life? …I’m going mormon!!!
As I’ve said, the 300… old!
That’s a very nice car!
I see some styling influences from the Ciel concept car.
SEXYEST CADDY IN A LONG TIME !!!
Looks like ill be working a lot of OT for the next few months to get this ONLY IN THE TWIN TURBO
Give me a 7 speed manual!
Why did In this image is written CTS4?
http://gmauthority.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2009/08/2014-Cadillac-CTS-15.jpg
4 speed auto
Because they saw something like it on a German car? (Don’t mind me, I never minded “CTS”, but I’m tired of the soulless alphanumeric crap.)
It means: CTS with AWD.
CTS4 is the all-wheel-drive version; 4 denotes AWD.
Looks expensive, which is what Cadillac wants, but it also will be expensive. The car pictured will likely be at or above $60K? Is that a good thing? The current CTS has enjoyed a decided pricing/size advantage versus MB,BMW and Audi. Basically you could get a car close in size to the E,5 or A6 for the price of the C,3 or A4? Not anymore.
It’s a re-alignment of segments, @LFX323HP — and it is a good thing.
With the last-gen CTS, which straddled the compact and midsize segments yet, Cadillac never served either the compact or the midsize buyers in an astounding manner, since the 2nd-gen CTS was priced like a compact luxury car, but was the size of a midsizer. From a business perspective, this doesn’t make any sense — as money was being left on the table (so to speak).
In addition to that, the ATS lets Cadillac compete squarely in the largest class of luxury vehicles — a luxury the CTS never enjoyed. So yes, the fact that the 2014 CTS is moving upmarket to directly take on the likes of the E, A6, and 5er is a great thing.
Agree and understand what they are doing here, but don’t get too greedy. The 528 starts at just under $50K and the E350 is at $51K to start. I would start this car at $45-47K for the 2.0T and then add $2K for the 3.6L LFX? If you want the 420hp 3.6L twin turbo, then add several more thousand, etc….My point is, still offer good value versus the Germans even though you are now on very similar ground size wise.
But should that be a feature of Cadillac? Being more affordable? The Kia of luxury cars?
Nobody should look at any Cadillac as see it’s primary selling feature as being “cheaper than all the rest”. It doesn’t really go well with “Standard of the World”.
Very nice… like others what will cadillac bring next; what is the next game changer… Its a good time to be a GM fan. If you drive a Chevy now you can aspire to own a Cadillac down the road again, this for me is what is cool and makes GM so unique over other auto makers. grantid many of them figured it out 20 years ago with the intro of toyota/lexus and nissan/infiniti; but GM had it long before they just lost the edge… Now GM gets it and can rebuild that legacy again, exciting…
This thing obliterates the 5-series in looks, both inside and out! Cadillac is on a tear with their design.
Any negative references to this new beauty by Government Motors is due only to a need to bash. This car is a terrific new CTS and has finally brought GM design into the mainstream of luxury automobiles. I think this is possibly the most beautiful production Cadillac ever. Great job GM and congratulations.
The 1994-1999 DeVille called. It wants its side styling and roofline back.
With reference to Lincoln it’s always a shame when a car company or model is axed. Usually it’s a company or model with great potential. The loyal customers tend to go to another brand (witch in this case is probably Cadillac) however long term competition is best, so the more brands & models can only be a good thing for the customers & car company’s alike.
I agree with Grawdaddy,
Cadillac and been a luxury car from day one, nearly 100 years ago. Only upstarts approach luxury from a “value” angle. TRUE luxury is predicated by product that oozes quality, craftsmanship, and exclusivity.
If Cadillac is serious about returning to its roots, things like “entry level” luxury and “most affordable” need to be the last thing that cross a potential customers mind when they are overwhelmed with a desire to own Cadillac.
