Remember yesterday when we shared with you all the news of the Race To Win A Corvette sweepstakes? As it turns out, upon further inspection, the grand prize has an approximate retail value (ARV) of $82,610. That figure is made up by the $10,750 VIP Corvette Racing Experience (hotel, flight, VIP tickets, food, etc.), leaving $71,860 for the ARV of the 2014 C7 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray. The numbers are directly from the PDF file that listed the contest rules and legalities.
As per the PDF, the “Administrator will determine all features of vehicle including but not limited to color of exterior and interior, and all other features or upgrades will be allowed only if permitted by delivery dealer and paid for by winner.”
We’re guessing the grand-prize 2014 Corvette is going to be equipped with the Z51 Performance Package, though there’s no telling really what sort of options the $71,860 C7 Stingray will feature. Regardless, this might just present some clues about how GM plans to price the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette C7 Stingray.
Update: 2014 Corvette price has been revealed.

Now you know why they are looking at a cheaper version in the future.
No. The 72K sticker might be a fully loaded Vette (which STILL undercuts a Carerra S) but not the base price. No way Chevy would push the base price of the Vette into Z06 territory. With all the goodies checked, I can easily see customers breaking into 911 and Jaguar F-Type territory. It shouldnt be an issue, because with that LT1 under the hood, they will be squinting at the Corvette’s license plate.
I’ve said it before, the Corvette needs to be more expensive and more exclusive if it’s to present an air of distinction of itself and what the Corvette means to GM.
If that’s the base price, then GM is doing the right thing by making the Corvette more exclusive.
If that’s the price, and I hope it’s not, than I hope they stick to their guns and don’t decontent the hell out of it or introduce a cheaper version for year two.
This almost put a base car in play. The Vette is not just any sports car it is the common mans supercar. Move it up too much and people will just pay a little more for the other sports cars.
GM owns the slot the Vette is in and they should remain there and only rise up for very special models.
Like I’ve been saying since day one that a cheaper Vette romor came around. It is pretty obvious that with the huge improvement in the C7 and all the new technology that the price would go up.
A cheaper C7 does not mean it will be cheaper than a base C6 coupe.
I have to agree. The more pricey it gets the more it leaves it’s original mantra of the “every mans sports car” behind.
It’s time the Corvette did leave the mantra behind. The mantra itself doesn’t work in 2013 as it did in 1953.
Besides, the Camaro is more inline with whatever could be called “the working man” nowadays.
Ouch! better buy more power-ball tickets……
Lord I hope not. At that price I definitely won’t buy one new. I’d just get a clean C6 GS for 40 or 50 grand and wait till the used C7s start to flood the market.
I do not even know how I ended up here, but I
thought this post was good. I don’t know who you are but definitely you are going to a famous blogger if you aren’t already
😉 Cheers!
I’m going to buy when they hit the showroom at what ever price.
Thats a little steep. Thats similar to the cost of a C6 GS drop top. If they back up their words of any C6 owner can afford one than a loaded Stingray Z51 should not top 65 msrp imo.
Agreed, compared to the current price spread of the Corvette, this is a BIg jump for the standard model!
Speaking of the Corvette, I jut spent the day watching Indy qualifying and nostalgic racing rounding the day off with a hour of World Challenge racing. And except for that bad a$$ pair of CTS-V coupes those C6 Vettes were MEAN! And I had no idea there were so many Camaros in the series! Seemed like every other car was a 5th gen.
If y’all get the chance you should go. When it comes to the World Challenge, GM is out in force!
Since my 2008 accident I’ve been without a vehicle and this would be awesome to be the winner!!
I think the base price will be under $53000.
