2014 Buick Regal Shows Up In 2014 LaCrosse Photo

When Buick announced the refreshed 2014 LaCrosse earlier this morning, one of the photos accompanying the release was that of the sedan demonstrating one of its new safety features — Forward Collision Alert. And it just so happens that the photo in question contains a (rather blurry) car ahead of the LaCrosse, and we can definitely make out the general profile of the car to be that of the Buick Regal.

We think that what we’re looking at is the rear end of the 2014 Buick Regal that will be announced on the morning of Tuesday, March 26. But since the vehicle in the photo is blurred, we won’t be sure until we see the updated Regal tomorrow. Either way, something (a gut feeling, perhaps) tells us that we are, indeed, looking at the 2014 Regal. Thanks for the Easter Egg, Buick.

  2. With the cup holder ‘door’ closed it makes the center console area look like a hardwood floor. The interior looks great, but a little less wood in that area around the shifter.

  3. Okay. I’m really feeling the tail end redux, but the front end is just okay. My biggest issue is that I think the design of the portholes needs to change…perhaps do away with it. They no longer stand for what they’re supposed to so that means they’re fake and just need to go.

  4. While I respect your opinion, Richard, doing away with the portholes would be like Ford changing their blue oval.

    It looks like Buick is going to be getting the Cadillac’s safety alert seat & configurable gauge cluster. Expect prices to jump again…

    I love technology as much as the next guy (or gal), but the manufacturer who brings back the Lumina sedan (or Dodge Intrepid) level of sophistication would sell a lot of vehicles at a reasonable price. That’s just not the way the entire industry is heading…

    However, with prices ratcheting up all the time, there will be a larger percentage of people who will never have a brand-new vehicle in their driving career.

  5. Are there other alerts that appear in the same place on the windshield? If not, I think I’d prefer to simply see a larger, lone star, so as to symbolize a crash, rather than 4 smaller symbols that (the designer assumes) one would read and interpret. Reading and interpreting is not something that will happen in the span between the warning and time of a potential crash. I assume the warning occurs only when the following distance is rapidly diminishing, otherwise something like your percent of safe following distance would provide better information. This reminds me of the blind side monitor in my current car, which is also a collection of symbols that one has to stare at to interpret.

    I do like the centered speedometer in a car that is an automatic. So many nowadays are either too small or obstructed by the steering wheel. I think an even better system for anything with the potential to be operated manually would be to have a digital speedometer surrounded by an “analog” tach within that centered gauge.
