2013 Buick Enclave, Chevrolet Traverse, GMC Acadia All Achieve Five-Star NHTSA Crash Test Honors

The respective updates that arrived with the 2013 Buick Enclave, Chevrolet Traverse and GMC Acadia crossovers were more than just skin deep. There was also a major new, industry first, safety feature added: the center-mounted front airbag. With the help of this breakthrough feature, all three crossovers earned the highest possible five-star overall vehicle score for safety from the National Highway Traffic Safety. They’re also IIHS Top Safety picks.

The front center air bag is designed to help protect drivers and front passengers from colliding into each other in the event of a side-impact crash. This prevents major head injuries induced from contact, which turns out to be an all-too-common thing in the event of a side impact crash with two people seated in the front row.
