If your local brand name dealer offered to beat any comparable quote for a schedule service appointment by ten percent, would you be any more prone to give that establishment your business? If you answered yes, then Holden’s newest dealer-related undertaking might prove to be a success.
Called HoldenWise Service Price Guarantee, the program vows to beat any comparable quote for a standard scheduled service by ten percent. The guarantee went into effect on February 12, 2013 and enables customers to present a comparable quote from a non-Holden service provider to their nearest Holden Service Center. Once the Holden dealer confirms that the quote is “like for like”, they will beat it by 10 percent.
The deal applies to all major Holden nameplates, including Commodore, Cruze, Captiva, Barina, and Colorado. In addition, the terms of the deal include:
- Only the first six Holden standard scheduled handbook services for vehicles within 3000km, or 90 days of the scheduled handbook service are eligible.
- The service provided should be compared to the same suburb/locality or within a 10km radius.
- Vehicles included as part of Capped Price Servicing are eligible for the Service Price Guarantee on the fifth and sixth services.
The GM Authority Take
The piece of mind that comes from having your vehicle serviced by OEM-trained technicians using OEM parts and equipment can only come from the local dealership… which isn’t to say that they’re always perfect. But at least the work is warranted.
That said, we wonder what’s behind the introduction of the program in the first place. Could it be that independent automotive repair/maintenance shops were, for one reason or another, encroaching on the territory traditionally occupied by Holden dealerships? If so, then the program is Holden’s attempt to bring customers back in to its stores with guaranteed standard scheduled prices. That, and this — to us — seems to be just another reason that standard service should be included in the price of the vehicle.

I think Chevrolet and GMC needs to come out with it’s own maintenance plan
Yes, but in a way to steal business from non GM customers. How? First, establish best in the industry customer service. second, offer 10% lower service package then any certified shop in the area, and this would apply to non GM vehicles as well as GM, it will get more traffic into GM showrooms and with great customer service, will definately increase market share.
