2014 Chevrolet SS Performance Sedan To Cost $27,535?

An recent Automotive News report claims that the upcoming 2014 Chevrolet SSthe vehicle that won and paced the 2013 Daytona 500 — will start at just $27,535 when it enters showrooms during the fourth quarter of this year. That’s nearly half of the price tag suggested by previous rumors.

GM Authority sources informed us that the Chevy SS will debut with a price tag of around $40,000 (and will only go up from there), so the sub-$30,000 price reported by AN is quite surprising, and we’re pretty sure it was confused with the MSRP of the upcoming Impala. We’re not sure if we can believe it. But as we like to say here, only time will tell.

  1. Judging by the fact that a dealership that I used to work for informed me that production numbers would be in the 5-7000 range for the year, I find this price hard to believe. That would make their halo sedan far too accessible to the masses which is not it’s intended purpose. Or is it? Either way, seems a bit shallow and far too deep into Impala territory to be true.

  16. Bob Lutz and Mike are correct. Starting MSRP will be around $40,000. Remember, this car is basically the same car as the Pontiac G8 GXP (with no m6 option). In 2009 the Base msrp for the GXP was $39,900.00.

  17. In late 2009 a Pontiac G8GT, with 6.0 liter engine, could be purchased for around $28,000. This price was with a $4000 rebate in lieu of the 0% financing GM was offering. So, I don’t see how they could sell a 2014 Chevy SS sedan, with a V-8, for anywhere near $28000. As low as I would expect $37035, the msrp of new Camaro with 2SS package. Also plan on paying over msrp to obtain one.Good luck!

  18. The SS would have to be in the 40 to 55k range to compete with the chyrsler 300 and enttry level lexus and mercedes, the options would probably be SS1 and SS2 or something like that with a few extra appointments folks like me always want. Im curious of the chassis set up , axle ratio and what parts are compatable with other chevy’s like they do now with the full size chevy parts that you can configure with any chevy you like.
